Background of Study
Social networking began when man started live. Man is a social being that will always find it delicate to stay without relating to people around him. numerous times agone ( 20th century and below), people connect and interact with each other through colorful means like using postal service, telegraph etc. Following the elaboration of internet in 1970’s, people use the internet to connect or communicate with each other especially in established associations like US Military. It was only in the last many decades that the use of social networking service came a global practice especially amongst youthful people( Horizon, 2009). Boyd and Ellison( 2007) definesocial networking service as a web- grounded service that allow individualities to
1. Construct a public orsemi-public profile within a bounded system
2. Articulate a list of other druggies with whom they partake a connection
3. View and cut their list of connections and those made by others within the system.
The nature at which these features are enforced may vary from point to point. Social networking started with Bulletin Board System( BBS), they were frequently run by potterers who precisely nurtured the social aspects and interest-specific nature of their systems – which, more frequently than not in those early days of computers, was technology- related. But there were also other avenues for social commerce long before the Internet exploded onto the mainstream knowledge. One similar option was CompuServe, a service that began life in the 1970s as a business- acquainted mainframe computer communication result, but expanded into the public sphere in the late 1980s. CompuServe allowed members to partake lines and access news and events. But it also offered commodity many had ever educated – true commerce. But if there’s a true precursor to moment’s social networking spots, it was probably spawned under the AOL( America Online) marquee. In numerous ways, and for numerous people, AOL was the Internet before the Internet, and its member- created communities( complete with searchable “ Member Biographies, ” in which druggies would list material details about themselves), were arguably the service’s most fascinating, forward- allowing point. Other social networking operations like Friendster, Linkedln, MySpace, Facebook and Twitter was constructed within the space of 2002 to 2007.
