INTRODUCTION
Background of the study
Social media is a computer-based technology that allows people to share ideas, views, and information by creating virtual networks and communities. By design, social media is Internet-based, allowing users to instantly disseminate information via electronic methods. The content includes personal information, papers, movies, and photographs. On a computer, tablet, or smartphone, users connect with social media via web-based software or apps. While social media is widely used in the United States and Europe, Asian countries like Indonesia rank first. The power of social media is its ability to connect and exchange information with everyone on the planet, or with a big number of individuals at once. There are around 3.8 billion social media users on the planet. Every year, new social media apps such as TikTok and Clubhouse emerge, joining the ranks of big social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. By 2023, the number of individuals in the United States who use social media is predicted to reach 257 million. According to the Pew Research Center, social media users are on average younger. Nearly 90% of those between the ages of 18 and 29 used social media in some capacity. Furthermore, with an annual salary of above $75,000, these customers are more educated and affluent. The term “social media” can refer to a variety of technology advanced activities. They include photo sharing, blogging, social gaming, social networks, video sharing, business networks, virtual worlds, reviews, and a variety of other activities. Governments and politicians, too, utilize social media to interact with their constituents and voters. People use social media to communicate with their friends and family members. Some people will use social media apps to network for career opportunities, find people who share similar interests all over the world, and communicate their thoughts, feelings, insights, and emotions. Participants develop a virtual social network as a result of these activities. For businesses, social networking is a must-have technology. Businesses utilize the platform to discover and interact with customers, generate sales through advertising and marketing, analyze consumer patterns, and give customer service or support. It is impossible to overestimate the value of social media in assisting businesses. It makes it easier to communicate with customers and integrates social media into e-commerce systems. Its data collection capabilities allow it to focus on marketing and market research. It aids in the promotion of goods and services by enabling for the distribution of targeted, timely, and unique discounts and coupons to potential customers. Furthermore, social media may contribute in the establishment of client relationships through loyalty programs tied to social media. While social media has its advantages, many people point out its disadvantages and compare it to an addiction. It is said to generate inattention, tension, and envy, according to others. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, excessive social media use has been linked to depression. Furthermore, social media may serve as a conduit for false and misleading information. The impact of the platform’s ability to distribute misleading information on the 2016 US presidential election has been thoroughly documented. This phenomenon takes advantage of social media’s power, allowing anyone to reach millions of people with unverified or fact-checked material. Data consumption refers to how much data you use over the course of a billing cycle on a mobile phone subscription (usually a month). The data on your mobile phone plan is used when you use your phone’s internet connection to complete any activity. Data is frequently used in the following ways on cellphones:

When a mobile phone plan includes a monthly data allowance, it usually means that you’ll get the fastest data speeds until you’ve used up your allowance. If your plan contains a 5GB data limit, you can use up to 5GB of data at full speed. After you exceed the 5GB data usage limit, you may experience sub-optimal internet speeds.
Statement of research problem
The government’s move occurred just days after a tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari was removed for violating the site’s regulations, albeit the site’s statement made no mention of this. Mr Mohammed has previously criticized Facebook’s decision to remove it, describing it as “double standards.” Mr Buhari’s tweet on June 1 refers to the Nigerian Civil War of 1967-70 and to dealing “those misbehaving today” in “the language they would understand.” The post “was in violation of the Twitter Rules,” according to a Twitter official at the time.
The government provided no information on how the ban would be implemented or how Twitter had harmed Nigeria’s corporate survival.
According to the IFC, the World Bank’s finance arm, and Google’s e-Conomy Africa 2020 research, Africa’s internet economy has the potential to reach $180 billion by 2025, accounting for 5.2 percent of the continent’s GDP in just four years. According to a crucial statistic in the research, “a 10% increase in digital connectivity corresponds to a 2.5 percent boost in GDP per capita.” According to the paper, quicker and better internet connectivity, a quickly growing urban population, a growing talent pool, a thriving startup ecosystem, and the African Free Trade Agreement, which fosters “regional harmonization,” will all contribute to this rise. In conclusion, an increasing urban population will use the internet to grow GDP by leveraging better internet to trade across borders.
Objectives of the study
The following is the study’s principal goal:
To determine who is to blame for Nigeria’s Twitter ban.
The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Twitter ban on mobile data usage in Nigeria.
To see if the restriction on Twitter has resulted in an increase or drop in mobile data consumption.
To determine how mobile data use in Nigeria can be boosted.

What are the causes that led to Nigeria’s Twitter ban?
What is the impact of the Twitter ban on Nigerian mobile data usage?
Do you believe that after Twitter was banned, mobile data consumption has increased or decreased?
Do you believe that mobile data consumption in Nigeria can be increased?
Significance of the study
The importance of this research cannot be overstated:
The purpose of this study is to look into the stress management practices of working women in Lagos, Nigeria.
The outcomes of this study will surely provide much-needed information to government agencies, career women, businesses, and academic institutions.
Scope of the study
The impact of the Twitter ban on mobile data consumption in Nigeria is investigated in this study. As a result, the scope of this research would be confined to Twitter users in Lagos State. Nigeria
Limitations of the study
This study’s significance cannot be overstated:
The goal of this study is to investigate how working women in Lagos, Nigeria, deal with stress.
Government agencies, career women, corporations, and academic institutions will undoubtedly benefit from the findings of this study.
