ABSTRACT

Using Koode Radio International, Abuja as a case study, he investigated the role of Fulani radio in resolving the herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria. Three major research objectives were developed to accomplish this. In this study, the survey design was used, as well as simple random sample procedures. Presenters and personnel of Koode Radio International, Abuja, make up the population. The researcher readily selected 33 responders for selecting the sample size, while 30 were received and validated. Data was collected using a questionnaire that was self-created and validated. Data was collected using a questionnaire that was self-created and validated. Frequency tables and mean scores were used to assess the questionnaires that had been gathered and validated. The hypotheses were examined using a statistical method called chi-square. The data suggest that Fulani Radio is ineffective in addressing Nigeria’s farmers-herders conflicts. Fulani Radio has no good impact on Farmers Herders crises, according to the research. In light of the findings, the study suggests that community radio broadcasting programs can aid hard-to-reach locations. As a result, agencies and key stakeholders should ensure that broadcast programs intended for and aimed at rural communities reach these audiences; and radio media practitioners should regard the public interest by being truthful and factual while avoiding inflammatory content.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

Background Of The Study

Radio is a type of technology that uses radio waves to communicate or transmit. Fayeye Fayeye Fayeye Fayeye Fa (2011). Radio waves are electromagnetic waves with a frequency ranging from 30 hertz (Hz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz) (GHz). These waves are generated by an electronic equipment attached to an antenna that radiates them, and they are received by a radio receiver connected to another antenna. Radio has a wide range of applications in modern technology, including radio communication and other uses (Dendo, 2003). On May 21, 2019, the Nigerian government approved the use of radio for the mitigation and eradication of the conflict between Fulani herdsmen and farmers. According to the minister, the radio service will be used for social mobilization, interactive radio instruction, and education in order to provide a long-term solution to the herder-farmer conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of many people, the destruction of productive assets, and the improvement of nomadic education and learning resources (Eniola 2007). For the development of a radio station, the National Commission for Nomadic Education was awarded a license. The purpose of this research is to assess the influence of Fulani radio in resolving the Nigerian herdsmen farmer dispute.

Statement of the Problem

Due to an increasing lack of arable land and water sources, the conflict between Fulani herders and farmers has become a new concern in recent years. As a result, herders have resorted to invading onto farmlands to supply grazing for their cattle and cows in order to survive (Ahiauzu, 2005). In Nigeria, the violation of farmlands has led in an increase in confrontation between herders and farmers. Many lives and property have been lost as a result of this violence. As a result, the establishment of a radio station is seen as a step to provide knowledge and education that will aid in the eradication of the threat in Nigeria (Solagberu 2012). As a result, the study’s challenge is to assess the function of Fulani radio in resolving the herdsmen farmers’ crisis.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The study’s main goal is to assess the influence of Fulani radio in resolving the Nigerian herders farmer issue.

The following are the precise goals:

  1. To see how effective Fulani Radio is at resolving Nigerian farmer-herder conflicts.
  2. To look into the effects of Fulani Radio on farmers and herders in crisis.
  3. To determine the issues that work against the Fulani Radio’s effectiveness.

Statement of the Hypothesis

H01: Fulani Radio in Nigeria is ineffective in resolving farmer-herder conflicts.

H02: Fulani Radio has had no good impact on the plight of farmers and herders.

Significance of the Study

The study evaluates the effect of Fulani radio in resolving the Nigerian herdsmen farmers’ dispute. As a result, the study will serve as a reliable source of information for stakeholders in order to provide solutions to the problem.

Scope of the Study

The research examines the impact of Fulani radio in resolving the Nigerian herdsmen farmers’ issue.

Limitation of the Study

The research was hampered by logistical and geographical constraints.
