Abstract

 

The knowledge and understanding of value operation conception is critical in achieving design thing and objects in terms of time, cost, quality, safety, and functionality. former studies have set up that has been arising as a conception that’s demanded to be integrated into Nigerian construction assiduity systems. The study seeks to assess the use of VM conception as a design operation fashion by construction stakeholders in south- south Nigeria with a view to icing a sustainable and vibrant VM process in the construction assiduity. The objects were to assess the position of mindfulness of value operation conception for construction systems in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States, examine the position of perpetration of value operation practices by stakeholders, estimate crucial motorists impacting the practice of value operation practices and assess factors inhibiting the smooth perpetration of VM practices for construction systems in the study area. Affiliated literatures were reviewed to achieve the objects. Across-sectional check approach was used for the study. One hundred and seventy- seven( 177) questionnaires were recaptured from the replier which included 77 contractors and 100 advisers who applied the understudied value operation conception for construction systems delivery. Data collected were analysed using mean item score, relative significance indicator and Mann WhitneyU-test was used to test the suppositions. Findings indicate value operation practice is veritably low in the south- south Nigerian construction systems, indeed though the study shows that, there’s knowledge of value operation among stakeholders in the perpetration of this conception in the region. Findings suggest that professional bodies and academic institutions organize a sensitization programs and also synergize with applicable government institutions to get a legislation that would apply value operation in Nigerian construction assiduity. Proper guidelines should be published as well as Procurement Act should also be reviewed to include value operation practice for construction systems in south- south region.
