This study delved the problem of construction professed labour dearths and their impact on the competitiveness of erecting sector in South- East, Nigeria. The objects were to estimate the magnitude of professed labour dearths, identify the root causes of professed labour dearths, probe the impact of professed labour dearths on the competitiveness of construction companies in South- East, and to determine strategies for mollifying professed labour dearths. The study espoused check exploration strategy using structured questionnaires. The study targeted 100 construction professionals( engineers, builders, masterminds, volume surveyors, and design/ construction directors) engaged in indigenous structure constricting enterprises operating in three countries of South- East. The data collected were analysed using Mean Score Index, Standard divagation, Kruskal Wallis Test, and Spearman Rank Order Correlation Analysis. The exploration findings revealed that, poor backing of vocational chops centers, geriatric professed pool, rapid-fire growth of tone- employment, lack of craft chops appeal to youthful people, andpromotion of parchment and degree over specialized are the top causes of professed labour dearths in South- East. Construction professed labour dearths also affect the competitiveness of construction companies in terms of quality of work, design completion time, cost of design, fiscal profitability, andmarketing capability. enterprises ’ competitiveness in South- East and construction professed labour dearths is thus significantly interrelated. The recrimination is that; enterprises ’ competitiveness can be bettered by diving the problem of construction skill dearths. The study thus recommends effective deployment of the applicable strategies validated in this study by government, professional controllers and contractors in order to check professed labour dearths in the construction sector in South- East.
