ASSESSMENT OF TEACHING METHOD UTILIZED IN SECONDARY SCHOOL BUSINESS STUDIES

CHARPTER ONE INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

Learning has been defined globally as a behavioral change caused by the adaptation of various experiences, information, and motivation. According to Ukonu (2017), it can also be defined as the improvement of an individual’s skills. Learning is not a static component, but rather one that develops over the course of a student’s life and changes with age, resulting in the discovery of how that information can be used. Business education is extremely important in today’s world. Different companies are also concerned about the occurrence and wonder whether executives will be able to run their businesses in the future using concepts and strategies. As a result, a specific student’s learning should be linked not only to the instructor’s knowledge, but also to their own. Individuals find it difficult to adapt to learning without the participation of an audience, and it is not a practical method of teaching.

1.4 THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The overarching goal of this research is to evaluate the teaching methods used in secondary school.

The following research question is proposed for this study.

i. What business studies teaching methods do teachers use?

ii. Do these methods have a positive impact on students’ ability to achieve their goals in business studies?

iii. Do business education teachers have the necessary pedagogical experience to effectively teach business studies?

iv. Are students motivated?

1.5 THE STUDY’S SIGNIFICANCE:

The research will help secondary school teachers understand the best methods for teaching business studies. This study is important because there is a need to increase knowledge in the area of the methods used. It is also significant in that it will allow the teacher training college to focus more on assessing their students’ performance while on teaching practice (TP). The research will also be used to demonstrate the outcome of the method used at the end of the lesson. It will also encourage school administrators to hire qualified teachers for the subjects.

1.6 THE STUDY’S OBJECTIVE

The scope of this study is limited to the assessment teaching method used in secondary school business studies. The study will also establish whether or not education teachers have the necessary pedagogical experience to effectively teach business studies. The study is limited to selected secondary schools in Port Harcourt, Rivers State’s metropolis.

1.7 THE STUDY’S LIMITATIONS

During the course of conducting this study, the researcher encountered a number of challenges, including time and financial constraints, as well as language and respondent attitudes. Nonetheless, the researchers were able to overcome these challenges and ensure the success of this investigation.

BOOK- KEEPING: Is the art of recoding business transactions between individuals and institutions in terms of money or money’s worth. In other words, it is the act of recording an organization’s transactions in the books of accounts.
