Awareness And Perception On Exclusive Breastfeeding As A Birth Control Methods Among Pregnant Women Attending Antenatal Clinic In Rural Communities

Chapter One

Preface

Background Of The Study

Breastfeeding is the process of feeding an child mama ‘s milk, either through direct nipple- baby mouth contact or by expressed bone milk. bone milk is classified into two types colostrum, which is the original yellowish and sticky milk produced from the mama ‘s guts from 37 weeks of gravidity to about seven days after delivery, and mature milk, which is whitish in color and is produced effectively from about the tenth day after delivery( Baby- Friendly Hospital Initiative. 2014).

According to Bartick,, & Reinhold,( 2010), clinicians understand the significance of bone feeding for child health in developing nations, but they may be ignorant of the implicit long- term health benefits for maters and babe in rich countries, particularly in connection to rotundity, blood pressure, cholesterol, and cancer. The World Health Organization( WHO) recommends six months of exclusive bone feeding( bone milk simply, no water, other fluids, or refections), followed by two times of reciprocal bone feeding. This offer has been espoused by governments in Nigeria, United Kingdometc., but it also poses a significant issue for countries similar as Nigeria and the United States, where bone feeding rates have been low for decades and can appear amazingly resistant to change( Bartick, et al 2010).

Acceptable nutrition during immaturity and early nonage is critical to icing children’s optimal growth, health, and development. bone milk is considered the stylish source of nutrition for an child, and it has been conceded internationally that nursing is healthy for both the mama and child. bone milk is essential for the health and well- being of invigorated babies. bone- fed babe grow briskly, experience less sickness, and die at a lower rate thannon-breast-fed babies( John, 2005). Breastfeeding is a natural fashion of child feeding that involves two primary styles exclusive and partial, with the ultimate being the further popular. nevertheless, exclusivity is the most absolute and applicable design with the topmost domino effect. still, for the asked outgrowth, a good internal, emotional, and physical cooperation between the mama and her infant is needed( Narzary, 2009).

Breastfeeding promotes the complication of the uterus and, as a result, the quick recovery of uterine tone in the mama . It fosters a warm link between mama and sprat. It’s affordable, which is vital in the Third World, and it’s accessible. Eventually, because of the prolactin- raising action of nipple stimulation, nursing postpones the return of normal ovarian function and so lengthens the time between deliveries( Otoide, Oronsaye, & Okonofua, 2001).

This ultimate impact also benefits the child by reducing the threat of a new gestation displacing the child from the bone. Weaning foods are grossly shy in numerous impoverished nations, and children who are weaned too soon are at threat of suffering different protein- calorie scarcities, similar as kwashiorkor1 and marasmus, which beget overall debilitation, stopped development, wasting, and, in some cases, death. Children who are bone- fed are more likely to survive than those who aren’t in areas where medical installations are limited or missing( Otoide, et al 2001).

Statement Of The Problem

Breastfeeding is the most natural way for humans( mammals) to feed their babies, and it serves as the top source of nutrition for the first many months of life( World Health Organisation 2018b). likewise, studies have shown that exclusive breastfeeding for six( 6) months is the most optimal fashion of invigorated nutrition and should be continued indeed if the child eats supplemental foods after that.

lately, there has been an violent attempt to promote” Exclusive Breastfeeding,” which has increased suckling knowledge significantly. Hospitals and health centers have the power to educate pregnant and nursing women about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding as well as the way to take to make it a reality. People constantly seek knowledge on salutary pharmaceutical goods to help them ameliorate their health and well- being( Wang, & Cao, 2019). Prenatal classes( both traditional and digital) is one of the most important sources of knowledge on women reproductive health education for the general public. Several studies have shown the significance of prenatal classes and utmost women have attested to the fact.

still, some women especially in the pastoral areas don’t have access to these classes. walls similar as a lack of transportation to prenatal classes and to some a lack of mindfulness of the significance of these classes have averted most pastoral women from attending. Also, in utmost pastoral areas, utmost women don’t know that exclusive breastfeeding can serve as a birth control system. As a result, the experimenter intends to probe the mindfulness and perception on exclusive breastfeeding as a birth control system among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic in pastoral communities.

Objects Of The Problem

The primary ideal of this study is to probe the mindfulness and perception on exclusive breastfeeding as a birth control system among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic in pastoral communities. Specifically, but not limited to, this study seeks to

To determine the attendance position of women in pastoral areas to prenatal classes

ii. Examine the position of mindfulness among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic in pastoral communities on exclusive breastfeeding as a birth control system.

iii. Examine the position of delicacy of this system of birth control among women in the pastoral areas.

iv. To determine if women in the pastoral areas use other types of birth control.

Exploration Questions

What’s the attendance position of pregnant women in pastoral areas to prenatal classes?

ii. To what position are pregnant women attending prenatal clinic in pastoral communities apprehensive of exclusive breastfeeding as a birth control system?

iii. How accurate is this system of birth control among women in the pastoral areas?

iv. Do women in the pastoral areas use other types of birth control?

Significance Of The Study

This study will be greatly salutary to the health sector as it’ll reveal the significance of prenatal classes. This study will also be significant to pregnant women especially first time maters as this study will reveal the significance of exclusive breastfeeding, prenatal classes and the significance of family planning.

This study will also be salutary to the scholars and the scholars as it’ll serve as an being material for farther exploration and future reference.

Compass Of The Study

This study will be fastening on the mindfulness and perception on exclusive breastfeeding as a birth control system among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic in pastoral communities. It’ll also be specifically concentrated on examining the position of mindfulness, the position of delicacy of this system of birth control among women in the pastoral areas and determine if women in the pastoral areas use other types of birth control.

This study will be using women of Ibeno LGA as enrolled actors for this study.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

This study will be limited to the mindfulness and perception on exclusive breastfeeding as a birth control system among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic in pastoral communities. It’ll also be specifically limited to examining the position of mindfulness, the position of delicacy of this system of birth control among women in the pastoral areas and determine if women in the pastoral areas use other types of birth control.

This study will be using women of Ibeno LGA as enrolled actors for this study. This serves as a delimitation to this study.
