Farm Power Sources And Utilization In Enugu State

Chapiter 1

Introduction

1.1 Study Background

The creation and execution of the tasks involved in agricultural production require power. Power availability and agricultural output are practically directly inversely correlated in every region of the world.

In light of the aforementioned information, a review of the farm power options accessible to Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area was conducted. An articulated evaluation will aid in highlighting the power requirements of agricultural operations that will boost the production of food and fiber.

Statement Of The Problem

The local government region had previously done very little to no work on this topic, thus there hasn’t been much documentation on farm electricity sources and usage. In order to address this issue, this study will identify, analyze, and evaluate it. The numerous farm power sources that are accessible and how they are used in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area.

1.3 Study Objective

The purpose of this effort is to offer accurate information on the many farm power sources accessible in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area.

Second, to provide the most effective approach to use or use the power that is currently available.

Thirdly, it aims to find the most cost-effective use of the electricity resources in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area.

Through the effective use of available power, the study will also increase agricultural production and the processing of agricultural produce.

1.4 Study Justification

i. To calculate the energy output from the various agricultural power sources in order to offer suggestions for improvement.

ii. To pave the ground for future research by identifying the phases of agricultural or other human activities where farm sources are most frequently used.

1.5 Research Question

1. How are farmers distributed demographically?

What are the sources of farm electricity in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area?

3. To what extent is the agricultural power in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area being utilized?

4. What is the most cost-effective way to use the power that is currently available in Enugu State’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area?

1.6 Study’s purview

This study uses the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State as a case study to examine farm power sources and consumption in the state of Enugu. Due to inadequate disclosures of agricultural electricity sources and usage from the farmers, the study was unable to include other Local Governments.

1.7 Study’s limitations

The following issues were faced by the researcher while doing this investigation, including:

– Time Factor: This project’s work was hampered by the short amount of time that it had to be finished and submitted for evaluation.

– Financial Resources: Due to a lack of funding, the researcher’s ability to produce high-quality work was hampered. My sponsor’s (parents) preferred to spend money on me when I was younger rather than investing a significant amount of money in this study, which will have long-term economic and academic implications.

1.8 Terms explained

The following basic words, which are utilized in this study but need to be clarified in the context for clarity:

Farm Energy

Farm power is utilized for a variety of stationary tasks, such as running irrigation machinery, threshers, sellers, cleaners, and graders, as well as for tillage, planting, plant protection, harvesting, and threshing machines.

Energy Source

The source is where the electricity comes from. The most frequent types of electricity sources are batteries, generators, and outlets. The power supply works to transform the source’s power into the appropriate voltage and format.

Utilisation

usage, use, utilization, exercise, occupation; “he warned against the use of narcotic drugs”; “skilled in the utilization of computers”. activity – any particular action; “they shunned all leisure activity”
