Perceptions Of Actual And Preferred Hospital Clinical Learning Environment Of Student Nurses

 

Abstract

This study delved the factual and favored sanitarium clinical literacy terrain( CLE) of pupil nursers in Enugu state. This exploration specifically assessed the pupil nursers view of their factual and favored sanitarium CLE, determine if differences live in pupil nursers view of their factual and favored sanitarium CLE, establish the association between the factual and favored sanitarium CLE and scholars ’ age, gender, position and time of study and identify factors that impact pupil nursers opinion of their sanitarium CLE. A cross sectional descriptive check design was espoused for the study which permits the observation, description and validations of aspects of a situation as it naturally passed. The sample size of 454 nursing scholars was intentionally chosen for the study. Data were collected using two validated instrument therefore; experimenter developed questionnaire and acclimated 42 item formalized clinical literacy terrain force( CLEI)( factual and Preferred) questionnaires. Data analysis was done using frequence counts, simple probabilities, means and standard divagation for exploration objects, while t- test with cut off point of2.50 MANOVA and ANOVA were employed in testing the eight null suppositions at.05 position of significance. Background to the Study

Nursing is a practice grounded profession with clinical education as an essential part of the nursing class. Clinical practice is the focus for scholars learning and clinical placement/ advertisement constitutes one of the most integral factors in the nursing education. Clinical placement is the venue where chops, knowledge and stations developed in the theoretical part of the class are applied, developed and integrated into practice( Newton, Jolly, Ockerby & Cross, 2010).

According to Norman( 2009), clinical practice setting provides scholars with unique literacy openings in which classroom proposition and chops are put to the test with real life situations. Besides the clinical training foster scholars in the operation of knowledge, skill and station to clinical field of situations, it’s vital that precious clinical time should be employed effectively and productively.
