Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out teenagers ’ views concerning the causes and forestallment of teenage gestation in Nguluni located in Kenya. The end was to get important information that can be used by mates and stakeholders who have a part in reducing teenage gestation. This study was qualitative through participation of 40 womanish scholars aged 13- 16 from a original mixed day high academy. Narrative study was used to collect data where actors wrote essays. Data was analysed by content analysis.

The results showed that causes of teenage gestation were peer pressure which led to bad opinions. There was lack of guidance and comforting because parents hardly took time to guide and counsel their children due to lack of time and needed knowledge. Poverty in the area has caused early marriage, harlotry, dangerous connections, substance abuse and drunkenness. Teenagers engaged in vulnerable coitus when they were under the influence of illegal medicines and alcohol and were subordinated to rape. The results also showed that elderly manly scholars and preceptors took advantage of womanish scholars who aren’t acquitted to academy terrain. Taboos had led to early marriage of youthful girls while media exposed teenagers to unequivocal material similar as pornography.

The results showed that forestallment of teenage gestation was through; mindfulness juggernauts, change of teenagers ’ own geste and involvement of the government. mindfulness juggernauts should incorporate ideas from the teenagers and other members of the community during the expression, perpetration, evaluation and nonstop advancements of teenage gestation forestallment programs.

The birth of a child is an event that creates joy, festivity, and astonishment. The festivity comes fluently and naturally and it isn’t easy to repel the happiness that comes within us when we’re near a new born.( Cherry, Dillon

& Righ 2001, 2.) still teenage gestation can affect these fests and thus it’s important to understand teenage gestation gests and children born by teenagers.(Op.cit.p. 2.) During teenage phase an existent acquires chops and attributes necessary to come a productive and reproductive grown-up. Nearly all societies honor this phase in life when society acknowledges these arising capacities of youthful people. The passage from nonage to majority can either be direct or short passage or a prolonged teenage phase marked by individualities choices and places which determine the contents of a particular culture.( Barker 2007, 1.)

According to DiClemente, Santelli & Richard( 2009, 4), teenagers witness physical, cerebral, socio-artistic, and cognitive development. Growth and development of body systems similar as the reproductive organs and brain lays the foundation for other body development. Cognitive capacities develop due to the changes in brain in the early stages. Combination of new cognitive capacities with life gests affect to social judgement which includes threat and safety. Teenagers ’ connections with the world are also converted where social cultures, peer pressure, grown-ups work life, and social liabilities come more important while the family circles are temporarily less important. Teenagers have to learn how to relate to the social world, develop social chops that attract musketeers, love, employment and social liabilities within numerous social spheres. The teenagers have to acquire a stable sense of identity and develop autonomy or agency. Search for identity is generally after numerous trial and crimes in their social places and social behaviours. still, numerous fail to come healthy grown-ups and productive citizens due to the challenges encountered. They come victims of social and behavioural morbidities and mortality hence failing to achieve full eventuality as workers, parents and individualities. Some come short time victims while others extend into majority. The failures of teenagers development is as a result of preventable health threat behaviours.(Op.cit. p 4.)

Nguluni which is located off some 60 km from Nairobi along Nairobi- Kangundo road. According to National Coordinating Agency for Population and Development( NCAPDa 2005, 10) Nguluni is part of Kangundo quarter in Machakos County. Bright Hope International describes Nguluni as a poor failure stricken area girdled by champaigns and rampant HIV/ AIDS. seminaries in the area are unacceptable and utmost of the people move to the metropolises in hunt of better life. According to Akamba Cultural Trust( ACT), the area is inhabited by the Kamba community which is the fourth largest ethnical community in Kenya set up substantially in counties of Kitui, Machakos, Makueni and Mwingi in the lower part of the Eastern Province in Kenya.
