Background Of The Study

 

There have been significant differences in scholars’ academic performance in introductory technology; numerous experimenters have emphasized the significance of scholars’ station variables as performance predictors, indicating that pupil stations and interests may play a significant part among scholars studying introductory technology. Ormerod & Duckworth( 2005) bolstered this argument by stating that pupil stations are likely to play a considerable part in any acceptable explanation for scholars’ varying situations of success in their academy wisdom course.

 

The maturity of Nigerian secondary seminaries have used a variety of strategies to achieve applicable performance in introductory technology( Kehinde, 2001). Comforting services are the most popular, as utmost scholars come more aggressive when forced or other corrective styles are employed against them.

 

Comforting may be described as the action of a counselor or other professional, whether in a academy, sanitarium, or other institution, who counsels individualities on a variety of issues and enterprises( Ikeotunye 2005).

 

Comforting services include evaluation, treatment, education, advice, and referral to help scholars in maintaining their health and well- being.

 

Comforting’s primary thing in secondary academy is to help scholars in making career choices, private selection, proper placement, and good study habits.

 

The experimenter has seen that pupil conditioning similar as subject mixing, lack of soberness in studies, and substance operation may affect in an incorrect profession decision. Due to these issues, scholars in inferior secondary academy( JSSIII) and elderly secondary( SSI) should get thorough exposure on guidance and comforting.

 

multitudinous scholars and authors, as well as professional associations, transnational associations, and government agencies, have remarked on the need of guidance and comforting services in seminaries over the times.

 

Oladele( 1987), Kalu( 1992), Umom( 1998), Abdulkareem( 2001), Dikko( 2001), established the position and significance of guidance programs in the Nigerian educational system.

 

NuhuA. Yakabu, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education( NBTE), has remarked that” advice and comforting should be available at the secondary academy position.”

 

Yakubu( 2002) observed that” everypost-primary academy should have a guidance and comforting department that should periodically host career forums with prestigious professionals as resource individualities.”

 

The United Nations Organization( UNO) accepted the UNESCO report on the need for organized guidance services at the secondary academy position, which stated that” African governments should maybe consider furnishing further defined guidance for secondary academy pupils in light of their profitable, social, and artistic requirements.” Stronger direction than that set up in Europe is more logical in Africa, since numerous families are unable of making well- informed opinions regarding their children’s future ”( UNESCO 1962).

 

Comforting services in inferior secondary seminaries will help scholars in their subject selection and stations about colorful disciplines in the maturity of secondary seminaries in Nigeria( Okon, 2004). Among other disciplines, introductory technology is one of the most disregarded by the maturity of pupils in utmost inferior secondary seminaries. preface to technology is a critical content in secondary seminaries.

 

According to Ohikhema( 1994), introductory technology introduces pupils to woodworking, metalworking, specialized delineation, auto mechanics, and electrical and electronics. Obomanu( 2001) stated that Introductory Technology is a element of the general education class that aims to give scholars with learning gests that help them understand artificial and technological aspects of life through instruction in named areas of metalwork, woodwork, electricity, plastics, pottery, fabrics, and specialized delineation. The experimenter intends to probe the comforting services and stations of inferior secondary academy pupils regarding preface technology by exercising Birnin Kebbi original government area of Kebbi State as a case study.

 

Statement Of The Problem

 

What urged the study was the wide failure of introductory technology studies by the maturity of scholars in Kebbi State’s Birnin Kebbi original government area. This redounded in the establishment of comforting services. The purpose of guidance and comforting in secondary seminaries is to prop scholars in comprehending themselves, their issues, and resolving them without difficulty( Obomanu 2001). The experimenter observed that despite comforting services handed in the maturity of inferior secondary seminaries in Birnin Kebbi, some scholars continue to drop out of academy and others have a casual station toward the study of introductory technology; others engage in medicine abuse and juvenile delinquency( Okoh, 2013). This has been a big source of concern for the experimenter, which led to the choice to produce this study in order to determine whether comforting services truly have the intended and anticipated goods on scholars.

 

Objects Of The Study

 

The primary ideal of this study is to examine comforting services and scholars’ station towards introductory technology in inferior secondary seminaries. Specifically but not limited to, other objects of this study are

This study is significant for scholars, preceptors, parents, and society as a whole, since its significance can not be exaggerated. scholars will profit from this study if guidance and comforting preceptors take an active part in aiding scholars in relating particular, social, and academic difficulties and determining how to resolve them.

 

Eventually, this study will serve as an added material for farther exploration and future reference.

Limitations Of The Study

preceptors and scholars of named secondary seminaries in Lafia, Nassarawa State will be the repliers of this study, therefore the sample size was limited because only a many repliers were chosen to answer the exploration instrument, thus the results can not be generalized to other secondary seminaries outside the state.

 

The experimenter also encountered some fiscal and logistics problems but was suitable to resolve it as this study was successfully completed.
