DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED DRUG PROCUREMENT AND DISTRIBUTION TRACKING SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

A drug procurement and distribution tracking system is a collection of computer applications that purchases drug supplies, distributes drugs, and monitors drug inventory control. Using the pharmaceutical department of Port Harcourt University Teaching Hospital as an example, the department operates manually and lacks a good medication storage information system. The recording system is typically cumbersome, and the method for tracking expired drugs is inadequate. The best way to this problem was to use a computer by designing the form with Access in developing the database and Visual Basic as the programming language to enable keeping correct records of drugs and preventing the sale of expired drugs. This ensures that people have the right to appropriate health care and that the pharmaceuticals they receive are authentic and safe.
