Background Of The Study

In numerous developing countries including Nigeria road food merchandisers have formed an integral part of the food force chain, particularly following the arrival of urbanization( AkintoroO. 2012). The road food assiduity has contributed immensely to mortal and profitable development as studies conducted in some of the African countries like Nigeria, Morocco, and Kenya have shown that major road food merchandisers generally earn above the countries ’ minimal pay envelope( Aderoju 2008). The socioeconomic part of the road food sector in terms of its eventuality for employment creation, yielding income particularly for women, and provision of food at affordable cost to lower income groups in the metropolises has been proved. In Nigeria, civic megacity residers spend as important as half of their food expenditure on road foods( Tavonga 2014)

SARS- Cov- 2 contagion is still affecting the life style and hanging the life of numerous people nationally and internationally. World Health Organization( WHO) put numerous regulations for all the countries to keep social distancing between individualities and working from distance to reduce the transmission of SARS- Cov- 2 contagion.

In the food manufactories the capability to work from home is insolvable, and the workers need to work in places and together, so keeping food workers safe along the food chain is veritably big challenge( Wei,W.etal. 2020). All researches approved that thatSARS_CoV- 2 affects directly the respiratory system and is transmitted fluently through driblets when infected persons are coughing or sneezing( Tong,Z. etal. 2020). The impurity of the shells and objects with heavy driblets will do, So these insensible objects can be good vehicles to transfer the contagion( Tong,Z. etal. 2020). It was set up that the survival time forSARS_CoV- 2 contagion on plastic and pristine sword is over to 72 hours, on bobby up to four hours and on cardboard up to 24 hours( Wei,W.etal. 2020). still, utmost contagion on the face of common accoutrements becomes inactive( noninfectious) after the first 24 hours( WHO, FAO. 2020).

The knowledge of food instructors and merchandisers in numerous original food manufactories and their station to hygiene food practices need evaluation in the light of COVID- 19pandemic.Their knowledge of the principles of food hygiene needs refreshing, to exclude the threat of impurity of food, or food packaging as well as other shells during processing.( Sharif,L. etal. 2010). The transmission of SRS- Cov- 2 contagion among food instructors will be a worldwide issue and precluding spreading of the contagion have captured numerous associations each over the world. therefore there’s a need to examine the impact of Covid- 19 on food merchandisers.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

In the fear of the spread of covid- 19, it’s necessary that food vended in road are duly covered to help check the spread of covid- 19. As in other developing countries, the road food sector in Nigeria is brazened with challenges. There’s shy supervision and proper monitoring by food safety officers and the enforcement of food hygiene regulation is weak; lack of training in food safety and good hygiene practices is also replete among food instructors. Hence road foods are at threat of impurity, frequently at all stages of running. Street foods are occasionally stored at indecorous temperatures and vended from dealing spots which include alcoves, make- shift accommodation, and push wagons as well as other temporary structures. They’re prepared at veritably dirty surroundings with waste water and scrap disposed hard, furnishing nutrient and parentage ground for rodents and vermin. In utmost cases running water isn’t available at dealing spots, washing of hands and pottery are done in coliseums or pails and occasionally without cleaner. likewise the conditions under which road food is set and sold are worsened by weak perpetration of applicable environmental and public health regulations. therefore is it against this background that this study seek to examine the effect of covid- 19 on food merchandisers.

shy finance the exploration was face with problem of shy fund which hamper the experimenter from shuttering to Access Banks within Lagos more so in printing and collation of questionnaires

Time constraint time factor disguise another constraint since having to manage in this exploration which went contemporaneously within the time schedule of other academic work making it insolvable to take over this study in large further representative skill.
