1.1 INVESTIGATION

Herbs, roots, back leaves, and plants have been used to cure pains and aid control ailments since the beginning of time, and when appropriately supplied to persons or patience, it has been recognized to be a source of blessing. Unfortunately, some medications first cause some type of entering side effect such as feeling good, action, serenity, and power. What began as a remedial, action, and cultural measure progressively evolved into a dependency and addiction problem over time.

When drugs are abused, they are most frequently not utilized for the intended purpose, or they are used without a medical prescription. However, drug addicted mothers or individuals are essentially those who fund the effects of drugs as solutions to their problems. As with alcohol and alcoholics, drugs become so essential to users that they are unable to face reality without them.

The World Health Organization’s Drug Origination Committee defines drug addition as follows:

“A state of temporary or chronic intoxication that is harmful to the individual and society as a result of the recurrent use of a substance (natural or synthetic); its characteristics include:

i. An overwhelming urge or need (consumption) to continue taking the substance and avoid it at all costs.

ii. A proclivity to raise the dose

iii. A psychological (physiological) and, in some cases, physical reliance on the effort of drugs.

Drug addiction is a contemporary social issue. It has been identified as a social canker that has piqued the curiosity of our society and all facets of both urban and rural places. New types of drug additions, including the addition of drugs that are not yet under international control, are blending. The issue has progressed to the point where there is a development or what equates to adding sub. Culture in our society, which is symbolized by its own mode of dressing, music, entertainment, and meeting places, has given various detinations on “Drug Abuse SEEDAN 1978) define drug abuse as self administration of drugs in a manner that deviates from the approved social pattern” While CLARK 1978 also states that “drug abuse” occurs outside of medical practice for personal pleasure. Drug abuse is defined as the unlawful or improper use of drugs, which include illegal substances that, when ingested by a living body, can alter one or more of its functions.

The problem of drugs and drug abuse has become so acute. There isn’t a day that goes by when you don’t read a newspaper or listen to the news and learn about drug misuse or other crimes. The contemporary global audience is witnessing an increase in drug usage and trafficking among moms or women, particularly pregnant mothers. It has been around for decades, but in recent years it has developed at an alarming rate across social, economic, political, and geographical boundaries. The most commonly abused drugs among pregnant women include alcohol, cigarettes, barbiturates, inhalants, and so on. The constant or periodic intoxication is harmful to expectant mothers and other members of society. Drug users believe that the substances make them stronger, more confident, and in control of their lives or emotions. The sensation is so pleasurable that one is tempted to misuse it. The medicines cause people to become uncomfortable and confused, as well as a variety of other issues such as paranoia, hallucination, and psychosis. Researchers have also shown that drug use can permanently harm one’s health and produce heart attacks and strokes. It has also been shown that drugs contribute to many babies being born prematurely, as well as being born with diseases, killers, and utrus, which are transmitted from the mother to her foetus.

Although pregnant mothers (women) have their own reasons for abusing drugs, the most common of which are problems such as deprivation, neglect, broken homes, and so on. Anxiety, frustration, and economic depression may result from emotional and psychological stress.
