In Ichida, Anambra State, collected water emissions from five different houses with stone roofs were examined for the effect of roofs on collected water. The collected effluents were analyzed for pH and metal content. The results of the analysis were compared with the World Health Organization criteria. The resulting pH ranged from 6.4 to 7.2, with heavy metal concentrations of 0.143 to 0.244 for lead, 0.011 to 0.066 for copper, 0.00 to 0.085 for aluminum, 0.0191 to 0.748 for silicon, 0.033 for iron and 0.033 for zinc. 0.323 to 0.665 for , and 0.108 to 0.213 for chromium. Total lead and silicon levels in all five buildings and aluminum levels in buildings 2 and 5 were above WHO standards, but all others were below WHO standards. Drainage is harmful to health.
