Experiences Of Women Victimized By Domestic Violence

 

Abstract

The purpose of this design was to study the gests of domestic violence victimized women in Kenya and understand their hassles in the vituperative connections. The end is to acquire knowledge on the frequence and thepre-disposing factors of domestic violence in order to help in the planning and perpetration of mitigation programs. This study was conducted through Ujamii society, an association that offers a help line for women victimized by domestic violence.

The study was qualitative and data collection system was open- concluded questionnaires whereby the snitchers expressed themselves unlimited. Data analysis was made by deducible content analysis system.

The study set up out that culture, alcohol abuse and profitable factors were the major causes of domestic abuse against women. utmost of the women gave positive feedback how Ujamii society has helped them find indispensable ways in dealing with their domestic violence gests .

1. Preface

2. THE UJAMII SOCIETY

This study was conducted through Ujamii society, a program that works directly with the domestic violent victimized women. Ujamii Society is aNon-government association that was established with the purpose of creating a helpline for women who have been abused and suffered from advanced effect of domestic violence. Ujamii society is financed by the central government through CDF( constituency development fund). Constituency development fund was introduced by the central government to fund original cosmopolises with the purpose of enabling the original government’s finance their individual requirements. Due to high frequence in domestic violence, Nairobi megacity felt the need to produce a sanctuary for women who endured domestic violence. Ujamii societyco-operates with the police, quarter attorneys and family comforting centers and other associations that endorse for women.

Ujamii society prevents violation against women by their manly consorts by offering an volition and empowering the women. The thing is to help the women from abuse through retreat, comforting, collecting information and gests about the abuse and legal representation. The design also aims at developing services that educate tone- profitable reliance for the women.
