HISTORY OF AGUATA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

 

PREFACE

In this study, the history of the Anambra state’s Aguata Local Government Area is attempted. The many levels of local government in Igboland and their associated characteristics have been addressed in this endeavour.

The research has also revealed that the desire for local government reforms in Igboland as a whole is a natural human desire to want something better than what is currently available. In this case, the outdated local government models have been shown to be largely insufficient to satisfy these aspirations of the populace. The book is broken up into five chapters, each of which focuses on a different area of history. The subject of study is introduced in Chapter 1. The historical context of the lands and This chapter also deals with persons. The recognition of the warrant chief system in 1933 serves as the introduction to chapter two. Also, it demonstrates the development of additional changes and their effects on the populace over time. The third chapter discusses the 1976 local government system reforms in Nigeria, with a focus on the Aguata local government area system.
The issues and future of this local government system are also covered in Chapter 4 of this work. These many issues are addressed, with a focus on the Aguata local government region. Chapter 4 also emphasizes the future of local government and its accomplishments. The final chapter, Chapter 5, draws a conclusion and gives some suggestions.
