Impact Of Poor Funding Of Nigeria Library On The Literacy Level Of Nigerians

Abstract

A social institution, public libraries are entwined with the political and social landscapes of the neighborhoods in which they are found. Libraries assist organizations in achieving their stated objectives, and they can only do so if they have enough funding at their disposal. With regard to one objective that a public library set out to accomplish, it has been shown that insufficient funding is to blame for the fact that less is accomplished due to limited resources and infrastructure in our modern communities. The Imo State Library Board’s project, The Effects of Poor Funding Public Libraries in Nigeria, sought to identify the primary causes of public libraries’ financial difficulties as well as the reasons why publications frequently run out of money. Given that public library funding in Nigeria has been a concern for as long as there have been libraries, a study of the funding situation as it relates to ABLB and ISLB was conducted with the goal of identifying the issue and outlining potential solutions.
