Management Functions And Students’ Satisfaction With Library Services In Public Secondary Schools

 

Abstract

 

The academy library is an important organ of the educational system, and without it no profitable or satisfying educational programme can go on in the academy terrain because all the academic conditioning depend on the academy library and its installations. It’s a place where the collections of information accoutrements that are acquired, organized, and stored are kept for use by scholars and preceptors. Umar( 2013), defines the academy library as that part of the academy where a collection of books, diurnals, magazines, records of all types, computersetc. are housed for use by preceptors and scholars for literacy, recreational conditioning, particular interests and interpersonal connections of children. Akanwa and Mbagwu( 2016) also emphasize that the academy library is a laboratory where numerous conditioning and trials are carried out, and all these conditioning and trials are geared towards the development of the child and the nation. The academy library can be seen as an important accessory to any academy programme, and without it, no profitable or satisfying educational exertion can go on in the academy terrain. Morris( 2004) defines the academy library as an educational media centre that supplies not only the introductory necessary information accoutrements but also provides the impulses, guidance and conducive terrain for literacy. Ahanene( 1990) summarizes that the academy library is an information service centre located in primary,post-primary or schoolteacher training sodalities whose ideal is to give information services in support of literacy in the academy.
