Management Of Foreign Exchange In Nigeria By Central Bank Of Nigeria (1959 – 2004)

 

Abstract

 

This work deals with foreign exchange operation in Nigeria by the Central Bank of Nigeria( CBN) from 1959 to July 2004. the need to manage foreign exchange came imperative as a result of dis equilibrium in the foreign exchange request caused by shy force of foreign exchange operation is a conscious attempt to uses foreign exchange coffers emplace them to service the frugality so as to help the frugality from passing shocks due to foreign exchange volatility.

 

The central focus of thesis is to examine how CBN through its policy measures manages foreign exchange in the country. To accomplish this thesis, the replier makes use of both primary and secondary data. Questionnaires were in line with the ideal of the study.

 

Grounded on the ideal of the study the findings reveal that the part of CBN in managing foreign exchange isn’t emotional. The impact of exchange rate policy in managing foreign exchange isn’t encouraging, the conditioning of panel request drivers negatively affect the effective operation of the foreign exchange operation. conclusion and recommendations were made in line with the findings.
