Prospects And Problems Of Private Media Management In Nigeria

Abstract

Every organization that wants to prosper, whether it be a public agency or a media organization, must have an effective management system. As a result, the paper analyzes the challenges and future of media management in Nigeria using the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation as a case study. The survey research method was used, and 100 respondents who were chosen at random from a pool of 100 were given questionnaires. Utilizing frequency and percentage analysis techniques, data were obtained. It is safe to say that the OSBC’s managerial approach to problems is successful, and management performance is really strong. However, OSBC is restricted by a lack of enough flexibility, inadequate budget, infrastructure issues, and ownership influence. This is because the management team is chosen by the government and is therefore susceptible to its whims and fancies at the state level. It is advised that the government set up the infrastructure and environment necessary for successful media performances.
