THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ELECTRIC ARC WELDING MACHINE

CHAPTER ONE

HISTORY/INTRODUCTION

1.0 The machine was created specifically for industrial and agricultural welding. All welding is done with an alternating current power source.

The unit is primarily a transformer and is designed to operate on a single phase 240v A.C. supply. For the majority of its output range, it can operate from a 25 Amp socket. Because the current drawn from the mains supply may exceed 25 amps, the unit must have a 30A switch fuse input, similar to those found in electric cookers and heaters. This must be connected to the dead side of a 30A circuit. Any other appliance should not share the circuit.

The main components of the unit are as follows: single phase transformer (with tap changing secondary).

1.1            AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

As a result of the widespread demand for and use of iron rods, metal bars, and pipes, from the domestic to the industrial level, the arc welding machine was developed to ensure that the ulterior motive of the manufacturers of these products (iron rods, metal bars, and pipes) is achieved as part of technological advancement. The electric Arc welding machine has made it easier to use iron rods, bars, and pipes in construction projects.
