The economic importance of bacteria in the Environment

Abstract

The broad of this study is to examine the profitable significance of bacteria in the terrain using Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture( MOUA), Abia State as case study. Survey exploration design was employed for the study and with aid of intentional slice sixty( 60) pupil in microbiology department of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture was named as the party of the study. The sources of data collection was both primary and secondary with the operation of questionnaires as an instrument to gather the necessary data. The questionnaires were duly completed after being administered and this was a base by which the primary data were collected. Data was anatomized using simple chance in frequentness and tableFindings from the study reveal that Bacteria has some profitable benefit in husbandry similar as helping in sanitation of naturehelping in fixing atmospheric nitrogen and enables shops to uptake nitrogen, Bacteria is of some profitable benefit to medicinals manufacturing diligence. Bacteria helps in the product of Vaccines, Antibiotics, product of Vitamins and restorative teas, helps in the product of journal product and useful in wine product and food processing in bakery diligence. The study thus recommends that since numerous parasitic bacteria are the causative agents of bacterial conditions. They beget conditions of our profitable shops, domesticated creatures and manHence clinicians and microbiologist should insure inauguration of a system to cover general metabolic exertion of bacteria during medicines product and trials.

Chapter One

Preface

Background of the Study

terrain is a comprehensive term, which comprises of all the factors which make up the surroundings. The air that one breathes, the land on which one lives, the water one drinks and all the living andnon-living effects that are part of the surroundings are appertained to as the environment1. surroundings are factors of ecosystems. An ecosystem is a community ofmicro-organisms and their physical and chemical terrain that functions as an ecological unit. The ecosphere or biosphere, organise the wholeness of living organisms on Earth and the abiotic surroundings they enthrall . It can be divided into atmosphere, hydrosphere and litho- ecosphere to define the shares of the global expenditure inhabited by living effects in air, water and soil surroundings independently. The terrain has rendered a significant donation in the elaboration of the natural diapason by the process of natural selection and elimination. The terrain has told and structured the lives of the individualities since ancient history.

specially, within the terrain, there are presence ofmicro-organisms. Micro-organisms lives within the territories of the ecospheres. The niche is one element of a comprehensive conception of the ecological niche, which includes not only where an organism lives but also the functions it performs. The niche is the functional part of an organism within an ecosystem. Micro-organisms may be indigenous or indigenous or allochthonous or foreign. Micro-organisms, by their omnipresence, have an influence upon the entire biosphere. They’re present in basically all of the earth‘s surroundingsincluding some of the most extreme, from acidic lakes to the deepest ocean, and from frozen surroundings to hydrothermal reflections. Microorganisms are set up in each of the three disciplines of life Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya2.

Bacteria and their phages are the oldest and most abundant life forms on the earth. Bacteria are single– celled, or simple, organisms. Though small, bacteria are important and complex, and they can survive in extreme conditions. Bacteria are also necessary for understanding abecedarian life processes that are needed by all organisms, including central metabolism, replicationrecaprestatement, protein targeting, assembly and structure of macromolecular complexes, protein folding, stress responseserror correction mechanisms, signal transduction, and experimental programs. These processes are more fluently characterized in model bacteria and their phages than in other organisms because microbes give similar compliant experimental systems. The large force of inheritable and biochemical tools and data that have been acquired from introductory exploration on bacteria is pivotal for anatomizing the complex metabolic and nonsupervisory networks that control these processes3. Although we also live in an terrain replete with bacteria that can beget a wide variety of mortal conditions, bacteria have been proven to be of environmental benefit this is because they make possible the uninterrupted actuality of green shops and thus of creatures because the shops are the only source of food for creatures.

Statement of the problem

Microbes are far and wide in the biosphere, and their presence always affects the terrain that they’re growing in. While some micro organism are dangerous to the mortal and the terrain some are of profitable significanceprofitable significance of any organism refers to the advantages and disadvantages of that organism to nature, the humans and the terrainAccording to( 3), The goods of microorganisms similar as bacteria on their terrain can be salutary or dangerous or inapparent with regard to mortal measure or observation. Bacteria and their phages are the oldest and most abundant life forms on the earth. Bacteria haveco-evolved with us and are salutary for mortal health. There are over 10 times further bacteria in our bodies than there are mortal cells, and this natural microbiota is essential for proper development, nutrition, and resistance todisease.Bacteria play important places in different fields similar as husbandryassiduity etc4. Coversely, there are veritably little studies and emphasis about the relations between bacteria and the terrain that impact the delicate ecological equilibrium between humans and microbes and thereby determine the balance between health and complainttherefore these impelled the experimenter to claw into this study to examine the profitable significance of bacteria in the terrain.

Ideal of the study

The broad of this study is to examine the profitable significance of bacteria in theenvironment.Specifically, the study seeks to

To ascertain if bacteria influences equilibrium between humans and terrain.

To determine the part bacteria in husbandry and assiduity.

To probe if bacteria is significance in drawing a balance between health and conditions.

Exploration Question

Does bacteria influences equilibrium between factorycreatures and terrain?

What are the part bacteria in husbandry and assiduity?

Is bacteria of profitable significance in drawing a balance between health and complaint?

Significance of the study

Findings of this study will be applicable empirically and virtually. The salutary goods of microbes decide from their metabolic conditioning in the terrain, their associations with shops and creatures, and from their use in food product and biotechnological processesvirtually, the result of the study will enlighten scientist on the profitable of significance of bacteria in relative field similar as clinical loresmedicinalsmanufacturing assiduity and environmental biologist. Empirically, findings of this study will contribute to general body of knowledge and serve as a reference material to both scholars and pupil who wishes to conduct farther studies in affiliated field.

Compass of the study

The compass of this study borders on the profitable significance of bacteria in the terrainOther bandy the study will cover includes bracket of bacteria, their relative significance to man’s health, to plant and the biosphere. The study will test microbiology pupil in Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Abia State.

Limitation of the study

Like in every mortal bid, the experimenters encountered slight constraints while carrying out the study. The significant constraint was the deficiency of literature on the converse of profitable significance of bacteria in the terraintherefore important time and association was needed in sourcing for the applicable accoutrements , literature, or information and in the process of data collectionAlso the study is limited in sample size and terrain covering only microbiology pupil in Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Abia State. thus findings of this
