THE EFFECT OF EFFECTIVE PLANNING ON TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In the context of education, planning refers to the process of establishing goals and determining how they will be met. It entails determining ahead of time what will be taught, how it will be taught, when it will be taught, who will be taught, and how the recipient will be evaluated.

According to Obi (2015), the teaching and learning process begins with planning; before a teacher enters the classroom to conduct a lesson, he plans such lessons, while education officials create policies and curriculum for the school to use.

Lesson preparation makes the teaching-learning interaction more useful and productive. A lack of planning, on the other hand, results in a wasteful and ineffective lesson. The movement has spread to all levels of education.

and in all academic disciplines (Egbe, 2008).

There is universal agreement not only on the need for planning, but also on the content and style of plans. The strategy that received unanimous approval details the objectives, experiences, as well as the arrangement and evaluation of those experiences.

To ensure the effectiveness of a class, decisions in these areas must be made prior to the lesson. He must first define the goals he wishes to achieve, including knowledge or subject-matter objectives as well as process and effectiveness goals (Obi 2015). In order to achieve the goal, he must select and organize students’ learning experiences. He must make decisions about the tasks to be completed, the materials to be purchased, the amount of time to be spent, and so on.

a variety of other factors. Finally, he must select a technique or instrument for determining whether the instruction achieved the lesson’s goal.

According to Okonkwo (2012), effective planning provides direction for teaching and results in useful, efficient learning. This proposition has a solid logical foundation. It appears that careful planning of goals, experiences, and assessments would result in effective and appropriate teacher behavior in the classroom. Is this assumption, however, correct?

Is planning more effective at improving the efficacy of teaching and learning?

In light of this context, the researcher chose the topic.

It is worthwhile to look into the impact of good planning on the teaching and learning processes.

1.2 THE PROBLEM’S STATEMENT

The state of teaching in elementary schools across the country

country is rapidly dwindling (Okonkwo, 2012). As a result, students become dissatisfied with and indifferent to learning.

As a result, it is critical to reconsider the impact of good planning on elementary school teaching and learning processes. The first pedagogical issue to investigate is whether or not good planning improves teaching and learning.

As a result, the topic of this study, the impact of good planning on the teaching and learning process, has evolved into an empirical issue worth investigating.

1.3 THE STUDY’S OBJECTIVES

The primary goal of this research is to evaluate the impact of effective planning on the teaching and learning process. Other goals of this research include:

i. Determine whether effective planning is important in the primary school teaching and learning process.

schools.

ii. To see if effective planning influences teaching and learning outcomes in primary schools.

iii. To investigate the advantages of effective planning in the teaching and learning processes in primary schools.

iv. To investigate the factors that impede effective planning in the teaching and learning process in primary schools.

1.4 QUESTIONS FOR RESEARCH

This study will provide answers to the following questions:

Is effective planning necessary in the primary school teaching and learning process?

ii. Does effective planning influence primary school teaching and learning outcomes?

iii. What are the advantages of effective planning in the primary school teaching and learning process?

iv. What are the factors that impede effective planning in the teaching and learning processes in primary schools?

1.5 THE STUDY’S IMPORTANCE

The research will help primary schools in particular, as well as other schools throughout Nigeria in general. They use the study’s findings as a foundation for lesson preparation, administrative planning, and general school management planning, in particular. The work will be useful to students, scholars, and anyone conducting comparable research. It can act as a springboard for students to conduct their own research.

1.6 STUDY OBJECTIVES

This research looks at the impact of effective planning on the teaching and learning process. It is specifically focused on determining whether effective planning is important in the teaching and learning process in primary schools, determining whether effective planning affects primary school teaching and learning outcomes, and examining the benefits of effective planning in primary schools.

teaching and learning process in primary schools, as well as investigating the factors that impede effective planning in the teaching and learning process in primary schools.

The survey’s respondents will be teachers from selected primary schools in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

1.7 THE STUDY’S LIMITATIONS

The scope of this research is limited to the impact of effective planning on the teaching and learning process. It is specifically limited to determining whether effective planning is important in the teaching and learning process in primary schools, determining whether effective planning affects the teaching and learning outcomes in primary schools, investigating the benefits of effective planning in the teaching and learning process in primary schools, and investigating the factors that work against effective planning in the teaching and learning process in primary schools.

schools.

Teachers from selected primary schools in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, will be surveyed for this study, so the sample size was limited because only a few respondents were chosen to answer the research instrument, and thus the results cannot be generalized to other secondary schools outside the area.

The researcher also encountered some financial and logistical issues, but was able to resolve them because the study was completed successfully.

1.8 TERM DEFINITION

Effect: A change that occurs as a result of an action or other cause.

Planning is the process of considering the activities necessary to achieve a desired goal. Foresight, the fundamental capacity for mental time travel, underpins planning. The development of forethought,

The ability to think ahead is thought to have been a driving force in human evolution.

Teaching: A teacher’s occupation, profession, or work.

Learning is the process of acquiring new knowledge, understanding, behaviors, skills, values, attitudes, and preferences.
