Appraisal Of Stakeholder Management Practice In Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) Construction Projects

Abstract

Several experimenters have linked the significance of managing stakeholders as major criteria for determining design success. Project success has now extended beyond completing systems within budgets, schedule and set norms as traditionally viewed. Satisfying crucial stakeholders is another criteria used in assessing design success, therefore stakeholder operation is an important aspect of design operation. In Nigeria, studies conducted in the exploration area haven’t assessed the relinquishment of stakeholder operation. thus, this study appraises the conception in TETFUND construction systems. Interviews were conducted with design directors that have managed TETFUND construction systems in advanced institutions. relative content analysis was used for analysing the interview responses. The results show the position of mindfulness and operation of the conception within the enterprises; communication linked as the major tool for managing design stakeholders; and the major walls encountered in managing stakeholders. Despite the mindfulness and acknowledgements of the significance of managing stakeholders, there’s no proper relinquishment of the guidelines for stakeholder operation as stated in literature. The study recommends that proper relinquishment of stakeholder analysis and engagement way should be embraced by consulting design operation enterprises in managing design stakeholders.

Chapter One

Preface

Background to the study

The development of every country directly depends on its construction as it provides fixed means and serves as a major aspect of product to other sectors of the frugality. The construction assiduity helps in furnishing architectures that ameliorate the life of its citizens. The Nigerian Construction Assiduity( NCI) isn’t an exception as it contributes to the nation ‟ s frugality. Yet, the NCI is coupled with challenges in terms of servicing and satisfying its guests ‟ requirements( Kolo and Ibrahim, 2010). Ajayi etal.( 2010) attributed disagreement among sharing parties as one of the reasons for design failure in Nigeria while Onarinde( 2011) farther refocused out that the Nigerian Construction Assiduity( NCI) has not completely been suitable to embrace the vast significance of managing stakeholders involved in systems. This could be as a result of its complex nature, size and other challenges that it’s facing in satisfying its guests.

The significance and part of the assiduity to other sectors of the frugality makes it to have different stakeholders with wide range of interests that need to be managed. According to Farinde and Sillars( 2012), the construction assiduity is a complex and huge assiduity with several crucial players with different interests. thus, a design can be successful in its wholeness when the construction organisation is suitable to effectively manage all mortal andnon-human coffers; this is done in order to deliver a installation that satisfies and exceeds the requirements of the customer at the time it’s needed and within considerable budget range.
