COMMUNICATION: THE KEY IN EFFECTIVE PUBLIC RELATION

Chapiter 1

1.1 Introduction

Two prerequisites for success in the field of public relations, according to Nolte (1974), a renowned public relations consultant. First, the candidate must have a likable and agreeable demeanor. Second, the subject must be able to speak. If he can’t communicate, even the most endearing, affable guy in the world will fail miserably. Even the best communication will fall flat if the speaker has a bad attitude.

Ancient cave paintings, hand-drawn maps, and writing were the first forms of human communication that used non-vocal or non-gestural means, i.e., not vocalization or gesture. A telecommunications revolution in the past century has significantly changed communication by introducing new medium for long-distance communication. On July 25, 1920, the big transmitter radio transmission took place, paving the path for widespread analogue and digital communication.
