Comparative Analysis Of Pipeborne Water And Other Sources Of Water

Abstract

relative analysis of water was carried out on well water, sluice and pipe born water averted within Emene position of Enugu state the sample were subordinated to some logical tests final like plausible tests, comfirmative test final like plausible tests, comfirmative test, completed test, indole test and plate count for the organism that develop on the culture, the result show that well water and sluice were set up to contain pathogenic organism like salmonella, Shigella andstaphylococcus aureus as well as multitudinous feasible counts, the cloform or the index organisms Escherichia coli the family of enterbactercteriaceae were insulated too form well water the pipe borne water a sample containedstaphylococcus aureus and have lowtotal feasible counts.

Chapter One

Preface

Following the proposition of creation, it’s clear that water is as old as man. From time old, man has restorted to the use of this unique commodity for domestic and other purposes.

utmost of our water inventories are from face water which include gutters, aqueducts, lakes, abysses and swell and there water bodies are likely to be defiled with domestic and Artificial as well as husbandry waste, As populations increase, the problem come more serious and as similar, water can jeopardize the health and life of mortal beings because when defiled by fecal accoutrements it becomes implicit carrier of pathogenic organism( Carpenter 1977).

Water, is of course, absolutely essential to life, not only mortal life but all life, beast and vegetable. utmost of the biochemical response that do in metabolism and growth of living cells involved water, and all take places in water.( Camp etal, 1974).

Man uses water not only for drinking purposes but also for bathing, washing, laundering, heating, air exertion, husbandry, stock caregiving and auditoriums , Artificial processes and cooling water power and brume power, fire protection, fishing, swimming and wild life propagation and navigation.

Natural water contain not only also natural foliage but also micro – organisms from soil and possible from creatures or sewage. face waters in aqueducts or pools and stored waters in lakes and large ponds vary vastly in microbial content.( frazier 1978) water is astronomically divided into three typesviz., face water which include aqueducts, gutters, lakes sear, and abysses Kelman et al( 1957)

The ground water, well borehle, numerous people have defined the ground water in different ways ground water is subter water that occurs where all pores in the soil or gemstone counting accoutrements are impregnated( pelezer et al 1992).

The atmospheric water, which includes rain, falls. All water bodies correspond of a variety of bacterial and other microorganisms like the Algaes fungi, which inhabit these natural water bodies. Some of these micro – organisms are indigenous to therefore natural water while others are flash, entering the water from external terrain( Pelezar and Reg, 1997).

The generality of bacteria are substantially generally set up naturally in fresh water some of which include pseudomonas, Archacbacter, and vibrio these are gram negative, the gram-positive bacterial which are set up in water include micrococcus Archacbacter and actinomycentes. Gebharal( 1975) Tap water, as one of the water sources is substantially used domestically, it’s observed that valve change eventually the water valve will be clear this calls for cargo, in order to be sure of its portability. Bonde( 1977)

The increase in drinking water from different sources especially in Enugu state has made necessary to probe the microbial content of water. Water is a implicit carried of pathogenic organisms that can endage mortal life. utmost of drinking water sources are frequently defiled with different adulterants like faces, beast and factory wastes, making similar water unfit for drinking if not treated. The pollution of water with pathogenic organisms and other adulterants can only be detected by carrying out microbiological assessment of similar water. utmost mortal complaint similar as typhoid paratyphoid cholera, arnboebiasis, Trichinosis, gastroenteritis, sanonall shigellosis, diphtheria, giadia, dracunculus etc are know to be water borne complaint. Ewington et al( 1971).

Water born complaint are those complaint which have water as their vehicle of transmission these complaint are able of destroying a whole community if not checked. thus, the quickest ways to help out break of these complaint and to determine the portability of similar water sources is to determine the microbial cargo or content if the microbial content is nor within respectable limit, similar water sources should be condemned incontinently. Fair et al( 1970)

Aims Objective

To find out if well, sluice, Tap water coutain pathogens.

II. To help the public to know the peril of drinking these water without acceptable treatment.

III. To compare the microbial cargo of the water source and advice on safer source of water.

Statement Of Problem

These source of water are defiled through one way or the other

i) The short cascade in the distribution of treated pipe borne water leads people to resort to indispensable source of water which may be unfit for mortal consumption

ii) Tap water can be defiled through leakage’s/ indecorous plumbing.

iii) Well water is defiled as a result of running off into it, especially shallow well.

iv) Aqueducts can be defiled through waste from diligence, leaves, dust, and rain run frequently.

thesis

1. HO- pathogenic bacteria are present in water

2. H1- pathogenic bacteria aren’t present in water

3. Hiii- The position of pathogenic organism in water can beget water borne infection

4. Hilo The position of pathogenic organism in water can’t beget watt born infection.

Significants Of Study

1) The study will advice on water meet the standard quality needed for any particular purpose

2) Also advice the eswc on quality of their product. For unborn nature revision of treatment styles

Limitation

Fever sample were worked on because of lack of fund, the check is still limited to the bacteria foliage of waters, and not all n organisms indeed on bacterial foliage specification the number of sample culture were limited by lack of finances and culture media is precious.
