Dependency And Sub-saharan Africa Underdevelopment: The Nigerian Experience

Chapter One

Preface

. Background Of The Study

Sub Saharan Africa’s growth performance since gaining independence from social rule in the 1960s has been relatively disappointing and hugely inferior. So used are we to this assessment that we forget that Africa was, at least in the first decade of independence, growing faster than other developing regions in the world. still, the late 1970s dramatically and unfortunately set back the mainland and led to recession and retrogression through the 1980s and 1990s. Africa’s part in the global frugality is largely responsible for this, expressed most visibly in inadequate resource rallying and capital conformation, and the mainland’s crooked trade relations.

Nigeria has been one of the topmost victims of under development as a result of reliance on the western world this is owing to the present profitable recession in Nigeria.

The conception of reliance and underdevelopment are two words that goes side by side which draws our attention to the recession, deplorable and supplemental condition of the sub Saharan countries in Africa with special reference to Nigeria. The sub Saharan Africa region, among other regions of the mainland, is seen as the poorest as the most impoverished region in the entire mainland. In the transnational system, utmost transnational associations regard the sub Saharan Africa region as Under developed and poor thereby seeing Sub Saharan Africa as an unable or hindered. The reason becomes why they give out most loans to these region of Africa, thereby making the sub Saharan Africa indebted to the European countries. It’s also for the same reason most transnational association are established, towards the development of Sub Saharan African region.

. Statement Of The General Problem

The poor development of African countries in general and the sub Saharan African countries in particular has been an issue overtime. This poor profitable, social, political development in the sub Saharan African region of the mainland may have been caused by over reliance of these countries on the western world. This negativity of over reliance has redounded to lack of progressive growth and development in the region.

The study is confined to the reliance and sub Saharan under development a case study of Nigeria.

Limitation Of The Study

fiscal constraint Insufficient fund tends to stymie the effectiveness of the experimenter in sourcing for the applicable accoutrements , literature or information and in the process of data collection( internet, questionnaire and interview)

Time constraint The experimenter will contemporaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This accordingly will cut down on the time devoted for the exploration work.
