Abstract

The end- of- course grades assigned by speakers are intended to convey the position of achievement of each pupil in the class. These grades are used to make a multitude of opinions. Unless a sufficiently accurate and effective system is used for the grading, the grades are apt to convey misinformation and lead the decision- maker amiss. In itself, the processing of results is set up to be rather tedious, especially when carried out manually, and when the number of scholars is large.

It’s time- consuming and error prone. The process, still,

becomes a lot easier and much more accurate when carried out with a computer

running a suitable software operation. To find a sufficiently fast and accurate

system of carrying out this processing is a problem that’s both grueling

and intriguing. In this work, a computer software operation was developed

to grease the automated processing of the results. The software was developed in

Java programming language in the form of a database, employing

PostgreSQL Relational Database Management System. The developed software

performed well and produced anticipated results on completion. With it, it was

possible to cipher Grade Point Average and Accretive Grade Point Average for

each pupil grounded on examination scores entered being the core idea behind the

design.

processing examination results that would be sufficiently accurate and nicely

timely.

Result processing is a routine exertion. Every semester in the advanced institution calls

for assessment of the performances of the scholars. This assessment generally comes

in the form of examinations, tests, practicals, labs, and the suchlike. Without an

assessment of the scholars, there won’t be the need to work hard.

Assessment takes the form of a price system. scholars are interested in a

competitive terrain. Tracing this to the primary and secondary academy

systems where the scholars are graded in positions; each pupil works veritably hard

There have been several attempts to develop systems for automating result processing, but utmost of the work of this design will be on the processing of the results of the scholars at the undergraduate situations; and also gauge across other course counsels ’ functions. With Information Management Technology department as the association’s case study, this work is concentrated on furnishing indispensable results to the general problems associated with result processing, adding anddropping of courses, enrollment of redundant course units, timely calculation of scholars ’ grades, course enrollments , and over all, security issues which hinders unauthorized access to results by scholars and speakers.

Statement of the Problem

The problems posed by homemade styles of result processing are enormous. The

situation is the same in Federal University of Technology, Owerri and

similarly, Information Management Technology department. The issues

then can only be addressed by employing upper hands. The trouble expended in the

process of enrollment of scholars and calculation of their examination results is

tedious. relatively worrisome is the fact that these processes are carried out every

academic session, putting the drivers in a nonstop and ever demanding cycle.

The calculation of examination results and enrollment of scholars is obviously an

object- centered exertion, the pupil being the dominant object in this case. Hence,

the need to evolve not just a motorized process, but an object- acquainted

software design and perpetration that will effectively and efficiently

prisoner all the important objects associated with the enrollment and examination

result processing within the University and the relations among the objects.

This genuine and noble desire needed the design and perpetration of a

result processing operation for a course program, with Information Management

Technology as the association in question.

So numerous softwares have been developed and indeed vended worldwide to break this

problem but utmost of similar softwares have been discovered to be hamstrung.

Another problem which these softwares have posed is addict specific problems

as they’re rather general use softwares, than specific use softwares. scholars as

well has delved and developed their own software but they couldn’t give or

develop error free software that will help in result generation, automated course

enrollment to keep or make a database of results in the university that will

grease scholars ’ reiterations.

This problem has been procrastinating the results of graduating or graduated

scholars hence, detention in leaving for the National Youth Service when they ought to

have gone. This problem has dominated the system especially in the department of

case study, Information Management Technology Department.

To arrest this problem, there’s a need to develop software that’s accurate, error free, and that can run on the web( using real time) in order to give scholars access to their results as at when demanded. This will also help reduce the line generally seen at the course counsels ’ office during result’s check and in turn attack the so important stress on both examinations and record and the operation in Universities.

Objects Of The Study

The ideal of this design is to design and develop system that can

1. give a dependable result to affect processing that’s corruption free.

2. insure that normal credit cargo in line with the academy is maintained.

3. give a software that will induce result that’s accurate, timely and error free.

4. Maintain a dependable database for storehouse of scholars ’ records and update as the need arises.

5. circumscribe unauthorized access to the scholars’ record.

6. give an advice machine grounded on the current status of the pupil advices the pupil result which on the coming course of action to take in his/ her academic pursuit.

7. Produce applicable report of scholars ’ general performance at the end of every academic semester, presented in the form of tables, maps and graphs,etc.
