ABSTRACT

This design work is aimed at studying the procedure for NYSC posting system for the purpose of automating the system for effectiveness and effectiveness. Nigerian University scholars are transferred on a one time National youth service fraternity after their scale from the university. The list encouraged by universities to NYSC Headquarter is registered for the purpose of transferring call- up letter to the scholars and for advertisement of good scholars. So, this exploration is to design and apply an automated system for NYSC posting. This will be of immense benefit to the directors of the NYSC program as it’ll be easier to sort out list from a particular university. Also, the system will enable proper attestation of graduates that shared in NYSC program in a given time. The perpetration of the automated system was carried out using Visual Basic6.0 and access database.

Background of the Study

The National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) is an association set up by the Nigerian government to involve the country’s graduates in the development of the country. There’s no military conscription in Nigeria, but since 1973 graduates of universities and latterly Polytechnics have been needed to take part in the National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) program for one time.

This is known as public service time.” Corp” members are posted to metropolises far from their megacity of origin. They’re anticipated to mix with people of other lines, social and family backgrounds, to learn the culture of the aborigines in the place they’re posted to. This action is aimed to bring about concinnity in the country and to help youths appreciate other ethnical groups.

NYSC presently using homemade system in their data processing; this involves the use of people, pens and papers in records keeping. This system of data processing reveals a number of problems which includes

• Records to be kept in are frequently too large, diversified and complex to be reused manually.

• Most frequently some names are neglected as a result of homemade processing

• Statistics of monthly NYSC members are hardly correct as a result of homemade computations

• scholars are made to contend with missing their service time as a result of no call- up letter.

Objects of the Study

The ideal of this design is to

1) Design and apply a central database system that would serve as NYSC database, which will contain information of all the graduates that are staying for public youth service fraternity.

2) To induce scholars call up letters.

3) To efficiently and effectively post good scholars.

on population of the scholars for NYSC posting.

Limitations

During the design of this work, important finance was needed and owing to the fiscal meltdown encyclopedically, the exploration was limited by finance and hence concentrated on the available accoutrements within the position.

Significance of the Study

This study will in numerous ways promote good operation in NYSC exposure agency. The directorial approach to NYSC enrollment will be automated making information processing and decision making easy. Also, this study will help the institutions to achieve the following

1. Have a database of all the NYSC bobbies both present and the once

2. Issue call- up letters to scholars

3. Maintain a high position secured database
