DESIGN OF A GUEST HOUSE

DESIGN OF A GUEST HOUSE

ABSTRACT

Because human activities and social functions are always taking place in Enugu’s capital, there is a need to establish hospitality institutions, such as Guest Houses. This project seeks to provide a solution for the establishment of a Guest House. Some research was conducted in order to accomplish this. The goal of the research is to create a good architectural design for a Guest House. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, and the second chapter discusses related literature and the history of an Enugu Guest House. While carrying out the design, chapter three discusses the research method and case study. The fourth chapter discusses the plan guide (tools that will assist in the actual design of the Inn. Finally, chapter five summarizes the research findings that form the conclusions.

INTRODUCTION

A guest house (also known as a guesthouse) is a type of lodging. In some parts of the world, a guest house is similar to a hostel, bed and breakfast, or inn, whereas in others (such as the Caribbean), guest houses are a type of low-cost hotel lodging. In others, it is a private home that has been converted for the sole purpose of providing guest accommodation. The owners usually live in a completely separate area of the property, and the guest house may function as a type of lodging business.

In some parts of the world, guest houses are the only type of lodging available to visitors who do not have local relatives to stay with. Among the characteristics that distinguish

The difference between a guest house and a hotel, bed and breakfast, or inn is the absence of a full-time staff. Bed and breakfasts are typically run by families who live on the premises. Hotels have staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, whereas guest houses have a more limited staff presence. Checking in at a guest is frequently by appointment due to limited staff presence. A restaurant is usually attached to an inn.

Tenants in a guest house in Japan must pay a substantial damage deposit as well as a cleaning fee when they leave.

1.2    SIGNIFICANCE OF GUEST HOUSE

Because of the activities that typically take place in Enugu’s capital, there is a need to provide hospitality facilities for visitors to the state.

This researcher’s goal is to raise awareness about the importance of developing a guest house in a specific area.

1. Provision of facilities for business transactions, meetings and conferences, recreation and entertainment.

2. As a significant labor employer

3. Development of the local economy of the area in which it is located as a result of its attraction for visitors

1.3    STATEMENT OF THE ARCHITECTURAL PROBLEMS

The study intends to provide solutions to the following issues:

There aren’t enough places for the masses to hold their social gatherings.
a scarcity of accommodations that have the characteristics of a home
The absence of standard facilities in Enugu’s guest houses.
Inconsistency in the classification of guest houses by the average Nigerian.

1.4    AIMS AND OBJECTIVE

The goal of this project is to create a welcoming and appealing environment for guests. This is accomplished through the inclusion of:

In a guest house, basic amenities are required.
A comfortable environment for the occupants.
Individual needs include entertainment, exercise, and relaxation.

1.5    SCOPE AND DEFINITION

The purpose of this thesis is to concentrate on the most problematic aspects of Guest House design. They are as follows:

The interaction of spaces.
System of circulation. Furthermore, it will not only shed light on these issues, but will also solve the problem of thermal comfort in interiors using natural means.
The following types of handicaps are encountered in this type of research:

Unavailability of Relevant Information: Due to financial constraints, relevant information could not be obtained from relevant sources.
Inaccessibility of Existing Guest Houses: Due to security concerns, some of the visited refuse to give the researcher an audience.
Financial constraints to carry out the research: For example, funds to browse the website in order to gather information were scarce.
