DESIGN OF NOVEL TREATMENT PROCESS FOR PVC BASED MEDICAL WASTE

DESCRIPTION

The project’s goal was to create a revolutionary treatment process plant for PVC-based medical waste. The technique involves pre-treating PVC trash to remove medicinal substances before running it through a two-stage gasification pyrolysis for the selective removal of HCl at 3400C and char at 5000C. The plant’s required throughput is 1000MT/day. The plant’s material and energy balances, as well as its economic analysis, were completed in 325 working days. The plant’s specifications, including a process flow diagram (PFD) and material flow stream table, have been included. A preliminary control scheme has been created, as well as the resulting piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID). The mechanical design of the primary pieces of equipment, as well as the factors for selecting each piece of equipment, were completed. Finally, recommendations for the plant’s design were proposed.
