Factors Challenging Plantation Agriculture
Abstract
This study is about the factors challenging colony husbandry in Edo state, A case study of Ovia North East Local Government Area. Several factors were linked that challenged colony ranch. illustration of similar factors are lack of capital, use of old colony, ranch, attainability of land, lack of acceptable ranch tools, lack of governmental support, access to request( transportation) lack of sloggers, ignorance, bad road, networks, poor artistic practices and land tours system, climate condition e t c. A questionnaire approach was used to gain data from planter in Ovia North East Local Government Area. The result of this analysis shows that lack of capital was the main factor challenging colony husbandry in Ovia North East Local Government Area. This design work focuses on the two major factors or types of colony husbandry which are Rubber colony husbandry and Cocoa colony husbandry. We’ll come to see the problems or the challenges that’s affecting these two forms of colony husbandry in Edo state, especially Ovia North East Local Government Area good of note, is that these factors aren’t only limited to cocoa and rubber colony, but also affect other types of colony husbandry in Edo State. Knowing these problems that affects cash- crop or colony husbandry will expand our knowledge in putting result to similar challenges.

Background Of The Study
husbandry has always been the most important part of mortal history because we as individualities, family, artificial and the nation as a total all depend on husbandry. Agriculture has played a long term conditioning in Nigeria in general, including Edo state in particular, in furnishing kinds of food and cash crops
Cash- crop has actually played an important part in Edo state, in particular Ovia- north east original government area. Before the discovery of crude- oil painting, cash- crops similar as, win oil painting, rubber( latex), cocoa( cocoa sap) has always been boosting Nigeria from Brazil, it was an important cash- crop. Nigeria at also used to export large amounts of rubber, oil painting and cocoa. But in recent times, there has been a drastic reduction in rubber and cocoa product in Nigeria. A total 207,500, which represent 86 of the country’s land area under rubber civilization on small effects in 1966 declined to 147,200 hectares in 198. lately, field check showed that further than two thousand of the small effects have been lost to other crops
Presently rubber product in Nigeria has dropped and the rubber diligence have continued to fold- up( Agra, 1986) the fact is that Nigeria as a nation is presently drifting from being the exporter of cash- crop( colony produces) into a net importer in the nearest future. commodity that’s also missing is that Nigeria as a country and Edo State have chosen to forget the factors challenging colony husbandry because of their recently set up means of finance.
For illustration, during 60’s( 1960s) Nigeria used to have one of the stylish volume and quality of cocoa but during time 2000 the volume? The issue of turmoil was taken for granted cocoa wasn’t percolated according to its normal process. growers in Ovia- North East Local Government Area no longer follow the processes of turmoil. turmoil of cocoa is supposed to last for six( 6) days, but the day of harvesting has turned into the day of drying pruning of cocoa trees isn’t views as important, removing of sponger – audited cover isn’t followed regularly clearing around cocoa trees is no longer effective. All these vital principles have been left before by growers and also the government. That’s why this design work is going to open our mind and broaden our knowledge on factors that’s affecting colony husbandry in Edo state under Ovia- north east original government of Nigeria
Statement Of Problem
There are a lot of factors affecting colony husbandry in Edo state to be specific in Ovia- north east don’t have the knowledge of colony. Agriculture also the kinds of colony granges within and around Ovia- north east shows that colony granges are inadequately managed due to lack of capital, exposure and knowledge. The important question or issues is what’s the reason for the drastic turn down or reduction in product of colony produces, especially in Ovia- North East Local Government area of Nigeria

Significance of The Study
The purpose of the study lies in the fact that it’ll make the necessary suggestion and recommendation to government and colony growers( cocoa and rubber) about the problem of colony husbandry.
The significance of this study is grounded on the need to exploit other sources of earning foreign exchange for the country. Since the discovery of crude- oil painting colony husbandry or husbandry has not been given serious attention by the government. This study will help to bring out the factor that’s grueling colony husbandry by assaying every details affecting colony husbandry so that any individual or planter going into colony husbandry will be suitable to succeed just by knowing the grueling he may encounter in the near future.
