Perceived Exercise And Recreation Among Pregnant Women Attending Antenatal Clinic

Chapter one

Preface

Background of the study

During gestation the body experience dramatic physiological and cerebral changes which is natural and to remain healthy, the pregnant woman must indulge in regular physical conditioning call exercise.1 The professional health workers need to precisely design physical exercise programme to enable the pregnant woman remain healthy. In country like Brazil, her Ministry of Health stipulates that in addition to discussion and antenatal care, breathing and relaxation ways should be tutored for better control of labour and general well- being( 2). Different exercise programmes are available for pregnant maters ; these exercises include aerobic exercises similar as dancing, walking and swimming. Another type is Kegel exercise; this involves tightening of pelvic muscles to control urine inflow( 3).

Exercise has been known scientifically and physically to promote blood rotation to the mama and the foetal vital organs similar as the brain, liver and heart etc; exercise also ameliorate pelvic bone and muscle tone therefore enhancing normal safe delivery of baby during labour( 5). Exercise is an exertion taking physical trouble done to ameliorate health, it’s a physical or internal exertion that’s done to stay healthy or come stronger. Exercise session in prenatal clinic should be designed to stimulate interest in the physical changes being to promote body mindfulness and to grease physical and internal relaxation.

Heggard countries that women who rehearsed further than one type of sports or rest time physical exertion had 24 of reduced threat of preterm delivery, which compared with women with no sports exertion( 12). It must be noted that before asking a group to perform prenatal exercise on the bottom, the correct way of getting down and up again must be demonstrated side- lying in the coma position with pillows under arm and knee is generally comfortable position in gestation. The pregnant maters should get up from lying by bending the knees, rolling on to one side also using the arms to push up into a sitting or kneeling position to help strains on both the reverse and the abdominal muscles. Muscles of good tone are more elastic and will recapture their former length more efficiently and more snappily after being stretched than muscles of poor tone. Exercising the abdominal muscles antenatally will insure a speed to normal postnatally, effective pushing in labour, and the lessening of back pang in gestation( 13). Exercise during gestation are of utmost concern for utmost medical care giver, preceptors, the general public as well as pregnant maters and their family( 14). Regular and moderate exercise in early gravidity is healthy for the maters and their babies(). Mother’s health physiotherapist is the ideal choice to educate the physical chops needed or parenting.17 still in areas where there’s no physiotherapist available, midwives may find themselves responsible for physical medication as well as parent education in prenatal classes or as one- to- one base( 5).

Statement of the problem

Antenatal exercise is of benefit to every pregnant mama . Exercise can reduce the length of labour, dock the recovery time and indeed help withpost-partum weight operation( 5). The physiotherapists in the sanitarium always come to the clinic as early as possible but they generally meet only many pregnant maters because they come late to the clinic for the exercise as they see little or no need for antenatal exercise. The purpose of this study is to study how pregnant maters perceive utility of prenatal exercise as it’s being performed in the prenatal conventions. There’s need to find a way to change the perception of pregnant women about prenatal clinic through training, forums and health addresses on important of exercises in gestation and prenatal conventions.

Ideal Of The Study

The ideal of the study is to probe the perception of exercise and recreation among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic.

Exploration Questions

What’s the meaning of exercise and recreation?

What’s the significance of exercise in pregnant women?

How can perception of pregnant women about exercise during gestation be appreciatively bettered?

Significance of the study

Exercise during gestation has the following significance

-Fast labour.

– Weight loss in fat pregnant women.

– Relief of fatigue, swelling and back pain.

thus, this study will help in educating pregnant women on the significance of exercise during gestation, which has great advantage on the their health.

Compass Of The Study

The study concentrate on the Perception of exercise and recreation among pregnant women attending prenatal clinic.
