THE COOPERATIVES FACTORS THAT CAN IMPACT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF EDUCATIONAL SECTOR

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Cooperative societies have been around since the beginning of time. That is, they started long before the Earth was created. The holy spirits or trimly (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) collaborated to create the world. This was due to a variety of factors.

Furthermore, collaboration was required during the time of the stone age men and their wonders. This occurred in the agriculture industry because it was limited to family members. Things began to improve after a while, and a community agricultural system was established. This occurred as a result of a number of circumstances, as well as the need for it.

More countries began to collaborate in commerce, transferring goods and services from one country to the next.

from one state to the next. Certain causes have given rise to it because there is a need for it. That is to say, nothing worthwhile can exist unless there is a need for it, or unless certain causes, specifically those leading to cooperation among people nations, have led to it. Countries and the world at large are not for obtaining, but rather for satisfying or measuring desires. These elements, as listed in the introduction to this section, may be beneficial or detrimental.

1.2 THE PROBLEM’S STATEMENT

As previously stated, elements that may influence cooperative formation can be beneficial or detrimental. These characteristics differ from one state to the next, and from one country to the next. The type of cooperative or

Members participating in its activities are, however, the most important factor.

In recent years, many people and academics have attempted to discuss the factors that may influence cooperative formation. This is due to the fact that a large number of people do not understand what these things are. Instead, it is frequently confused with intentions. To put it another way, these universes are diametrically opposed. This project will go over the distinction between factors and motives later on.

However, in the Owerri Local Government Area of Imo State, a number of factors may influence cooperative formation. According to Mr L.M. Ejwnye, the factors influencing cooperative creation in Owerri L.G.A, Imo state (chief registrar of cooperatives Imo state),

In essence, these are the elements

Things that have resulted in the identification of requirements and, as a result, the organization of needs for the purpose of establishment.

Regardless of the circumstances that lead to the formation of cooperatives, many of these cooperative societies fail and break down for a variety of reasons.

1.3 THE STUDY’S OBJECTIVES

This academic exercise is intended to assess the feasibility of the factors that can influence cooperative establishment and the socioeconomic standard of cooperative members and the society at large in Owerri L.G.A, Imo state. These elements are as follows:

a. To understand how these factors have aided cooperatives, their members, and the general public.

b. To know how these factors have led to the establishment

co-operatives in Owerri L.G.A.

c. Determine the number of failed cooperatives in Owerri L.G.A.

d. Determine the number of cooperatives that still exist in Owerri L.G.A, Imo state.

e. Determine the success of cooperatives in the economy of Owerri L.G.A, Imo state.

f. To state how much cooperatives have contributed to the reduction of unemployment in Owerri L.G.A, Imo state.

g. Investigate the issues impeding the establishment of cooperatives in Owerri L.G.A, Imo state.

1.3 THE STUDY’S IMPORTANCE

Cooperatives have greatly benefited many countries or nations. In countries such as Krael, Denmark, Sweden, India, and the United Kingdom, cooperatives have played an important role in industries such as production, distribution, and even consumption.

At the end of this study, many people will realize the importance of cooperatives to human survival. This includes the federal, state, and municipal governments; the general public; the cooperative sector; and the general academics.

1.4 QUESTION FOR RESEARCH

a. What are the factors that can influence cooperative formation in Imo State?

b. How can these factors affect the establishment of cooperatives in Imo state?

c. Are these f actors positive or negative?

d. What are the negative factors that may have an impact on the establishment of a cooperative in Imo state?

e. How many cooperatives are viable in Imo state as a result of these factors?

f. What are the most likely causes of their condition?

failure?

1.5 STUDY SCOPE

The study examines the scope of the factors that can influence the formation of a cooperative society in Imo state. It went on to discuss the significance or goals of cooperatives in Imo state. Also, the factors that contributed to their failure.

Furthermore, the study covers a wide range of cooperative societies in Imo state, both viable and non-viable.

1.6 THE STUDY’S LIMITATIONS

A variety of circumstances limited the scope of this study. One of the major constraints was time, which prevented the researchers from collecting and gathering materials from Imo state’s cooperative department (or Road Secretariat). There was no time to collect the other questionnaires that had been distributed.

Secondly finance was another constraint that restricted movement from

various cooperative offices.

Third, protocols for locating the appropriate source to provide the researcher with useful information and details. I was transferred from one area office to another, from one zonal office to another, and finally to the cooperative department’s headquarters.

Finally, my school programs were a major constraint that forced me to be timely and limited in my movement.
