Making a career decision is extremely difficult, especially since his life will depend on it. The emphasizes how crucial the family environment and parents are to a child’s education. It is important to emphasize that the goal of work experience is to broaden students’ views and make the transition from school to the workplace easier than before. This is typically based on the information parents have provided to the school. This is because most school-age children are adolescents who are susceptible to hypocrisy, double standards, truancy, consumerism, dishonesty, etc.

This study focuses on how parental factors affect secondary school pupils in Edo State’s Egor Local Government Area as they choose their careers. The parents could want what they feel is best or in the best interest of their ward.

If the youngster is able to handle it, this may have a beneficial effect; but, if the child has other things in mind that they would prefer to do, it may have a negative effect. As a result, the child might not pay attention to their wants or those of their parents, which could prevent them from favorably adjusting to their career. This can occasionally result in pupils being wayward, joining a secret cult, committing armed robberies, etc. The child might not be able to handle the parents’ constant use of force against him or her.

Every sincere person who teaches and thoughtful parents are contemplating ways to prepare their children for the demands of this new century because the world is placing such a great deal of pressure on the upcoming workforce. Mejer Bloomfield wrote this quote in his 2007 book, “Finding Ones Place in Life,” and it is still true today. Since the early 2000s, career development, or vocational guidance as it was then known, has gained more and more respect and attention. Career counseling, in essence, is a specialty within the field of counseling one that fosters vocational development and work adjustment of individual abilities, interests, and goals with the work roles structured by the community and occupation organized by companies and assists a developing and deciding individual to make sue It was assumed that a person entering late adolescence would be gaining independence and gradually shedding the constraints of his or her family as they formed their own identity in the larger world. In practice, this meant that the person would choose a career based on their own interests, research, and occupational goals with little input from others. In fact, even if young adults move away from home, it’s likely that their families will continue to exert a substantial influence over them with regard to two major life events—marriage and their job.

Aim Of The Study

This study’s primary goal is to determine how parental influence affects students’ career decisions in Edo State’s Egor Local Government Area.

To the greatest extent possible, it will attempt to ascertain whether or not parental influence will ever benefit students either positively or badly when it comes to their profession choice.

Additionally, processing strategies will be emphasized. Research on the effects of a family’s socioeconomic situation has eventually divided opinion; this lack of agreement is mainly due to the field’s paucity of studies in this area because it is rarely the students’ primary focus. Family systems can teach us valuable lessons that can lead to good career counseling. (Brown, 2001), but also because the researcher didn’t provide enough information about the individuals.

It will make it possible for the research to advise parents on how their kids would react to the guidance that has been given to them.

It will allow the researcher to provide the government with specific advice regarding student career choices, particularly given the high unemployment rate at the moment.

It will make it possible for the researcher to advise school officials.

The results will also allow the researcher to suggest areas for future study on the subject of job possibilities.

It will make it possible for the peer group and the student body to have an impact on young people’s expectations and perceptions of careers.

Aim Of The Study

The scope of the study is restricted to how parental influence affects students’ job decisions in Edo State’s Egor Local Government Area. This study will examine five secondary schools in the Egor Local Government Area that were chosen at random. These secondary schools, which include three public and two private ones, are:
