Abstract

The study is a critical examination of the effect of traditional media and communication on pastoral development in Nigeria. Notwithstanding the colorful ultramodern means of communication similar as radio, internet, TV, magazines etc. The pastoral means of communication is still the epitome for pastoral development. These traditional medium of communication includes the following Ekwe, Ikoro, Bank signals, Open request, Age groups, win fronds, The city crier ojaetc.

still, both primary and secondary data will be used in gathering information for the study. The secondary data will come as a review of proved accoutrements , while the primary data will be attained with the help of questionnaire and oral interview, and will be administered to the ruralites with the help of the experimenter, who’ll help the uninstructed bones to fill in the boxes by explaining the questions to them.

A aggregate of 382 questionnaires will be distributed precisely to the residers of Iwollo Oghe community. The data collected will be tabulated and anatomized using probabilities.

The three suppositions formulated will be tested using ki- Forecourt system independently-

The findings of the study will show among others that the traditional medium of communication is a tool for an effective pastoral development. The study will also recommend that the ultramodern media should be used in confluence with the traditional media of communication which people are familiar with; this will make for participatory communication to enhance public development.
