Abstract

Environmental issues are meant to be operationalized through the expression of actor-specific environmental conduct plans, which define precedence action that will convert strategy into practice. The Environmental Planning and Management( EPM) process which is an decreasingly vulgarized barrels of working the myriads of problems anguishing the environmental in contemporary world.

The study examines the use of Environmental Planning and Management( EPM) process as a strategy of working environmental problems in Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria by probing the perception of the general public on the state of the terrain in the area, position of participation of people in compliance to being environmental strategies, causes of ineffective environmental operation in the area and assessing community satisfaction with being environmental operation approach using well structured questionnaires administered to tried homes.

Questions were related to socio- profitable characteristics of homes, amenability to share by the community in the EPM process, perceived position of environmental declination in the area, position of compliance of oil painting and gas companies to environmental laws and the part of Government terrain protection agencies in guarding the terrain of the study area.

The results confirm that the position of damage from oil painting disquisition, gas conditioning, pollution and channel vandalizations is habitual and accretive, which has redounded to the declination of the terrain, routine of installations and compliance to environmental operation approaches aren’t regular, installations and outfit were set up be grossly shy thus proper examination can’t be well carried out, the community expressed dissatisfaction with the living terrain approach which they attributed to the incapability of completely enforcing the environmental approach, the community indicated that given the occasion they’re willing to particimendations were made for the effective and effective operation of the EPM process in the study area.
