An Assessment Of The Management Of Garbage Collection And Waste Disposal Abstract Poor waste operation has been a major problem to mortal actuality and it affects both pastoral and civic areas. colorful styles of waste disposal live and this study assessed the waste man– agement practices among residers of Owerri State, Imo state, Nigeria. It was a descriptive cross sectional study in which a aggregate of 282 residers of Owerri State were named by multi- stage slice fashion and studied using tone and canvasser administered questionnaires. The results showed that 90 of repliers were apprehensive of waste operation while97.5 had posi- tive station towards it. The major types of waste generated from homes were food remainders(97.1) and vegetable products(95.4). Also poor waste operation practices among residers include open jilting, rehearsed by66.3 of the residers and burning as rehearsed by62.4 of repliers. The commonest means of waste transport to final disposal point was by wheel barrow. Gender and educational status of repliers significantly told their knowledge, station and practice of waste operation( p<0.05).
