Chapter One

Preface

1.1 Background To The Study

The significance of education is inarguable. Education is viewed as pivotal to commission. As a result, it’s the key to public progress. According to Ismail( 2021), education is the sum of all the processes by which a person develops his or her capacities, stations, and other forms of positive geste in the society in which he or she lives. also, Eugene( 2018) states that education is the knowledge of how to maximize one’s capabilities. To put it simply, a mortal being doesn’t have proper sense until he or she’s educated. This means that without the proper commitment, all education is meaningless. People who don’t have the necessary commitment won’t be suitable to take the action to put it into action, and therefore won’t be successful. n It’s extensively conceded that high- quality education is a major source of mortal commission that helps to annihilate poverty around the world. With proper education, labor is converted from unskilled to professed, adding productivity and, by extension, income. Formal,non-formal, and informal education are all options. Formal education is handed through the academy system. It’s organized, planned, and totally structured with life as its content and definite forms on the other hand, formal education takes place outside of the formal academy system. Despite being less structured. It’s further task and skill acquainted, as well as further adaptable and learner- centered. Informal education is robotic and unplanned. In recent times, women’s and girl child education has entered special attention, with a strong relation to socioeconomic growth. The assignments of transnational instruments and summits, similar as the UN General Assembly’s 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Demarcation Against Women( CEDAN), the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, and the recent Beijing 5 action, emphasizing the significance of women’s education, haven’t been lost on policymakers and stakeholders in Nigeria. Women and girl child education is a tight articulation of formal,non-formal, and informal education approaches to and mechanisms for awakening an each- around development of women’s eventuality. It’s extensively conceded that high- quality education is a vital source of mortal commission that helps to reduce poverty across the world. With proper education, labor is converted from unskilled to professed, adding productivity and, by extension, profit. In addition to investing in formal education, the Federal Government of Nigeria has made sweats in adult andnon-formal education to address women’s education. As Udeani( 2004) rightly points out, investing in formal, adult, andnon-formal education and training for girls and women has shown to be one of the most effective ways of attaining long- term profitable growth and development. According to her, women constitute around half or further of the population of each given country. As a result, no country can go to count this bit from the critical process of formal education. likewise, a study of applicable exploration on women’s education and development unequivocally proved the multiplying influence of women’s education on socioeconomic growth. Education can help women ameliorate their capacities as tone- employed workers and raise their living conditions. Women come more tidy and productive when their capacities are bettered. tone- employment encourages womanish and womanish entrepreneurs to establish themselves in small and medium- sized businesses that are ready to take chances and invest in a unpredictable request. In this situation, women are anticipated to start sustainable enterprises and induce earnings that will allow them to contend for advanced- paying jobs in the labor request. Access to and attainment of educational credentials must be evened if further women are to be entrepreneurs, earn high inflows, and work at the loftiest situations of associations. In any event, educated women can enjoy a advanced quality of life and have a lesser” voice” in decision- making in the home, community, plant, and society( Alele- Williams, 1986; Orisanya- Olumuyiwa, 2000; Snyder, 2000 in Udeani, 2004). More importantly, education provides her with the tone- regard and confidence she needs for a public life( Enemuo, 2001). likewise, education is critical for occupational attainment, which is a critical element of socioeconomic status. Bizzarely, several deca after launching several educational programs in both formal and adult education, it appears that there’s still a low position of knowledge that impacts women’s capability to contribute to growth. The great maturity of Nigerians, particularly women, appear to be tormented by a high position of poverty, which has redounded in the pitiful condition of the Nigerian sprat in terms of health and education. In light of this knowledge, the current study intends to probe the relationship between women’s education and socioeconomic progress. Several exploration studies on women’s education and its relationship to socioeconomic development have been done. further study is needed in this area to determine its relationship to the socioeconomic development of women in professional positions or occupations. The current exploration study aims to dissect the effect of education to the socioeconomic growth of womanish bankers in areas where exploration studies appear to be lacking. Education has hindered women’s capability to share laboriously in development. Gender morals in society have relegated women to the home front, proscribing them from sharing in and serving from development conditioning. The current exploration study linked education as a critical aspect that will help women in playing their part in nation development. It’s worth noting that Nigeria scores inadequately in terms of development( UNDP, 1996). This is why Nigeria launched a slew of educational enterprise concentrated at perfecting womanish child registration, retention, and completion at all situations of formal education, as well as introducing programs to encourage women’s adult andnon-formal education.1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM A lack of education has been linked as a factor impacting women’s benefactions to public development. Regrettably, seventeen times after the induction of colorful educational programs in both formal and adult education, there appears to be a lack of education impacting women’s capacity to contribute to progress. The vast maturity of Nigerians, particularly women, appear to be impoverished, performing in the deplorable state of the Nigerian child in terms of health and education. According to Oyewale( 2019), Nigeria’s high ignorance rate has redounded in a significant number of untrained women, pushing them to pick low- pay envelope occupations. As a result, people are unfit to make opinions in their families, communities, or workplaces. Adult knowledge will reach at least 65 percent by 2030, according to the Human Development Index( 2015). As a response, the strategy sought to empower women by furnishing them with chops and information that would prepare them for the huge challenges that lay ahead. In this tone, this study attempts to assess the part of women education in socioeconomic development in Nigeria Nigeria. In doing so, some named women bankers in Assess bank, First bank, United Bank of Africa and Wema bank located at the University of Lagos, Akoka were used by the experimenter to determine the donation of education to their occupational attainment, income generation, creation and tone worth. thus upon this background that this study seeks to review the link between education and socio- profitable development of women.1.3 objects OF THE STUDY The main ideal of this study is to review the link between education and socio- profitable development of women in public association. still, the specific objects are to

In other words, it’ll encourage government and stakeholders to increase investment in formal and adult education since investment in education for girls and women has been shown constantly to be one of the most important determinants of development, with positive counteraccusations for all other measures of progress this present study thus identifies and documents the present relation between women bankers and socioeconomic development since exploration study in this area has been skimp. The society will have to profit from this study because when women are educated, it has positive externalities. This proposed study will also contribute to the being body of knowledge.

Limitation Of The Study

Like in every mortal bid, the experimenters encountered slight constraints while carrying out the study. The significant constraint was the skimp literature on the subject owing that it’s a new converse therefore the experimenter incurred more fiscal charges and important time was needed in sourcing for the applicable accoutrements , literature, or information and in the process of data collection, which is why the experimenter resorted to a limited choice of sample size covering only women working in Uyo Local Government Area council, with reference to Primary Health Care Department. therefore findings of this study can not be used for conception for women in other countries within Nigeria. also, the experimenter will contemporaneously engage in this study with other academic work will stymie maximum devotion to the exploration. Howbeit, despite the constraint encountered during the exploration, all factors were played down in other to give the stylish and make the exploration successful.
