The National Policy on Education countries,” schoolteacher education shall continue to be given major emphasis in all educational planning and development.” Also, the policy states that the thing of schoolteacher education is to produce largely motivated, conscientious, and effective classroom preceptors for all situations of our educational system. Okoye( 2019) asserts that the seven abecedarian pretensions of education are emotional, intellectual, physical, moral, aesthetic, vocational, and artistic heritage. It’s important to note that the key to achieving these objects has been entrusted to preceptors.

According to Akindele( 2020), one of the most important factors impacting scholars’ academic achievement is the schoolteacher. Qualification, age, experience, subject knowledge, and station toward tutoring are some of the factors that preceptors use to impact scholars’ academic achievement. Because of its critical part in the tutoring and literacy process, schoolteacher qualification, which is one of preceptors’ characteristics, is generally allowed to have the topmost implicit influence on seminaries and scholars. This has come under the limelight of educational attention each over the world and is presently the target educational reform. The quality of a nation’s education could be determined by the quality of its preceptors. According to Deola( 2022), a tutoring qualification is one of several academic and professional degrees that enable a person to come a registered schoolteacher in a primary or secondary academy.

 

Abubakar( 2020) argued that a lack of good preceptors is to condemn for scholars’ poor academic achievement, whereas Ademulegun( 2001) editorialized that scholars tutored by further good and educated preceptors perform better than those tutored by lower good but educated preceptors in terms of subject knowledge. This revealed the quality of secondary academy preceptors who tutored a variety of subjects. preceptors with expansive experience on the job, according to Augrist( 2004), are likely to be more knowledgeable in their technical areas, including their tutoring subjects and educational principles and propositions. Umar( 2018) identifies the experience earnings that do during the first time of tutoring, with basically flat goods of experience later. They linked a number of schoolteacher stations that will grease a caring and probative classroom terrain, and they’re as follows enthusiasm, minding, establishment, popular practices to promote pupil responsibility, use time for assignment effectively, and have established a caring and probative classroom terrain. Importantly, Olude and Akin( 2020) asserted that” scholars, who are curious stakeholders in the educational enterprise, have long suspected and suspected that some of their preceptors warrant the necessary professional qualifications.” That is, the chops, ways, and strategies needed to effectively communicate generalities, ideas, and principles.” They believed that these scarcities contributed significantly to the rising rate of failure and posterior powerhouse among secondary academy scholars. These compliances by stakeholders bear the need to probe the goods of preceptors’ factors similar as age, academic qualifications, tutoring experience, and the station needed for tutoring and literacy in secondary seminaries on scholars’ academic achievement.

The issue of poor academic achievement among Nigerian scholars has piqued the interest of numerous. The situation is so severe that it has redounded in a extensively attained falling position of education across Nigeria, from which Lagos state isn’t vulnerable. The quality of education is determined by the preceptors’ prosecution of their jobs. Over time, scholars’ academic achievement in both internal and external assessments was employed to determine quality in preceptors and instruction. preceptors have been demonstrated to have a significant impact on scholars’ academic accomplishment, and they also play a vital part in educational attainment since the schoolteacher is eventually responsible for turning policy into action and principles grounded on practice during relations with scholars. According to exploration, creating an emotionally probative literacy terrain is essential for scholars’ provocation and challenge in literacy. scholars feel comfortable and cheerful in emotionally probative literacy settings( Patrick & Midgley, 2022).

 

According to the findings of the study, perceived schoolteacher emotional actions have a favorable relationship with scholars’ academic tone- conception and natural drive to learn( Skaalvik & Skaalvik, 2019). scholars’ engagement and trouble in literacy are appreciatively told when scholars show concern and care for them and spend time getting to know them( Tucker etal., 2022). Affective schoolteacher actions are especially important for scholars’ well- being and academic performance in competitive literacy situations. As a result, scholars who have advanced quality affective connections with their preceptors in alternate grade classrooms have more positive connections with their peers in third grade, which leads to more positive connections with preceptors in fourth grade and bettered academic tone- efficacity in fifth grade. schoolteacher factors or variables have been regarded as those specific traits in a particular schoolteacher that enable him or her to fulfill his or her task successfully in order to achieve asked results. Grounded on this supposition, the study intends to estimate the effect of preceptors’ variables on scholars’ academic success in economics in public secondary seminaries in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.

iii. To determine if preceptors ’ experience impacts scholars ’ academic achievement in Economics.

 

iv. To explore if preceptors station influences scholars academic achievement in economics

Significance Of The Study

 

This study would throw further light into the problem of poor academic performance of scholars ’ which could be attributed to the factors of age, educational qualifications and experience. The outgrowth of this study is thus anticipated to help all stakeholders in the tutoring and literacy processes, particularly at the secondary academy position to fashion out strategies that would enhance government decision on reclamation of preceptors and to enable academy directors to allocate subjects so that tutoring and literacy processes, pretensions and objects are attainable.

 

The results of the study may be helpful in perfecting the professional station of secondary academy preceptors. It’s anticipated that the outgrowth of this study will reveal to academy directors to admit competent preceptors that have good tutoring chops. This study will reveal to government the need to ameliorate on constant supervision of the preceptors in order to achieve the stated tutoring and literacy ideal of education in Nigeria.

The variable compass for this study will include the schoolteacher’s subject mastery, qualifications, preceptors ’ experience, preceptors ’ station towards profitable subject. The study covers named public secondary seminaries in Awka South Original government area in Anambra State.

 

Limitation Of The Study

 

Like in every mortal bid, the experimenters encountered slight constraints while carrying out the study. The significant constraint was the skimp literature on the subject owing that it’s a new converse therefore the experimenter incurred more fiscal charges and important time was needed in sourcing for the applicable accoutrements , literature, or information and in the process of data collection, which is why the experimenter resorted to a limited choice of sample size covering only public secondary seminaries in Awka South Original government area in Anambra State. therefore findings of this study can not be used for conception for other secondary seminaries in other countries within Nigeria. also, the experimenter will contemporaneously engage in this study with other academic work will stymie maximum devotion to the exploration. Howbeit, despite the constraint encountered during the exploration, all factors were played down in other to give the stylish and make the exploration successful.
