This raises the question as to whether polytechnics have outlasted their utility in Nigeria. From all suggestions, as far as polytechnic education is concerned, Nigeria has reached a crossroads, where a critical decision as to whether or not polytechnics are still demanded must be taken. It’s against this background that this paper examines the dilemma of polytechnic education in Nigeria.

Polytechnic education in Nigeria is in plod, as it’s filled with heads of colorful confines and magnitude. A number ofmulti-faceted problems have inhibited thing attainment and are raising questions, dubieties, and fears, all of which combine to suggest that the system is at a crossroads. The polytechnic sector in Nigeria is faced with a lot of challenges, which have averted the polytechnics from delivering on their accreditation of producing high quality specialized force needed for technological advancement and tone- reliance of the country. The challenges include under- backing, structure deficiency, under- staffing and the dispensable demarcation against polytechnics and their products by the Nigerian government and Nigerian society, among others. As critical as these challenges may feel, the abecedarian issues regarding the conceptualization of the polytechnic education system in Nigeria should be given immediate attention. thus, until these issues are addressed, Nigeria won’t get polytechnic education right. Hence, it’s against this background that this study seeks to examine the issues in the operation of polytechnic education in Nigeria.

Also the experimenter will recommend precious results and the authority on the other hand will give suitable result to annihilate those problems stated. The study will also enlighten the government on the need to pay attention to polytechnic education in other to help them fufill the thing of specialized education. The study will contribute to the general body of Knowledge and serve as a reference material for pupil and other experimenters in conducting farther studies on affiliated field of study.

Limitation of the study

 

The following factors poses to be a limitation during the course of this exploration

 

Fiscal Constraint – inadequate fund tends to stymie the effectiveness of the experimenter in sourcing for the applicable accoutrements , literature or information and in the process of data collection( internet, questionnaire and interview).

Time constraint – The experimenter will contemporaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This accordingly will cut down on the time devoted for the exploration work.

 

Replier station The maturity of repliers failed to collect the questionnaires, and those who do collect them pay close attention to filling out and returning them, while others don’t return theirs at all. Others were lower accommodating and may have handed untrustworthy information because they were hysterical of being exposed, despite the experimenter’s pledge that all information would be treated with the utmost secretiveness and only for education purposes.
