DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED PROJECT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

 

1.1.0 GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO CHAPTER ONE

Their main goal is to provide quality project management services to individuals and other businesses who purchase their services in a proper and cost-effective manner. In recent years, the country’s infrastructure and project execution have grown rapidly, necessitating the development of an application that will meet the majority of the difficulties addressed in this research effort. This research will be critical to these industries since it will address the majority of their problems.

 

Project Management Software effectively automates the entire project creation process, including adding team members, allocating tasks, generating project milestones, and determining time frames for each project. The system administrator creates system users, which allow each employee to log in with the appropriate authority and administer his or her account. Clients register with the system in order to view and submit relevant details on his/her project; users/staff all form the project team member, and staff can be added to as many projects as they choose. The first chapter introduces the research work and the problem definition of the research, and the research justification tells us why it is important to research on this topic; it also covers areas like scope and limitation of study, which entails the boundary of this work. 1.3.0 DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM

 

This study was conducted to identify some of the issues with traditional project management techniques. Where project team members meet on a regular basis to discuss project progress, team members are not permitted to travel or engage in activities outside of cities because work progress is reviewed based on physical presence. Using these traditional methods places many constraints on team members because no team member can focus on other business operations until these are finished. As a result, the establishment’s growth is being slowed.

 

1.4.0 STUDY OBJECTIVE

 

In light of the aforementioned issues, this project aims to implement a project management system that will solely: • Automate every project carried out in the establishment, such as project registration, project milestone tracking, project updates, and asynchronous message transfer between project team members.

• Efficient project file management and a secure channel for project storage, sorting, updating, and retrieval.

 

1.5.0 JUSTIFICATION OF RESEARCH

 

This research will provide a dependable method of properly managing Springlight projects, remove lag time in file recovery, and provide an anasynchronous system. Furthermore, it will aid in the representation of structural documents and eliminate the tedium of performing monotonous transactions. 1.6.0 METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH

 

The “design and implementation of an interactive project management system” research project will be a web-based application built on a relational database system (MySQL). The web-user interface will be designed in HTML, CSS, and Jquery, while php (hypertext preprocessor) will be utilized as the server-side script language to connect the interface and the database.

 

1.7.0 STUDY SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

 

The goal of this research is to create a system that can handle all Springlight tasks including creating projects, defining time frames for projects, adding team members to each project, adding project milestones to each project, and sending asynchronous communications between team members. The system will also have a feedback layout between the project team and the client in its design.

The system will not include all of the functions of a project management system in its development, but will instead concentrate on the aforementioned functionalities. If the system’s environment (network/system placed on) is corrupt, the system will not be liable for any data loss.

 

1.8.0 CHAPTER ORGANIZATION
