Abstract

 

With the proliferation of the internet technology, online examination system has come an effective element to traditional test in numerous advanced countries. It’s a web grounded, effective, flexible and adaptable means, which can give a new and open mode of examination meeting the requirements of colorful academic institutions. The end of this design is to give installation to conduct online examination on the World Wide Web, concentrating on Online Post UTME for the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.

 

The features include admin login, pupil login, examination instruction, valid time of examination, submission of the answer script and release of the examination results. The system allows the admin to produce a test from a question bank that comprises different subject areas. Testing of the system is done with four seeker with different department selections which included five questions from four subject areas similar as Mathematics, English, Physics and chemistry.

 

The use of ultramodern technology, in particular the Internet programming tools similar as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP my SQL, to grease CBT making this design timely. This exploration design was grounded on a review of affiliated literature, review and journal papers. The findings shows that there’s an increase in result detention, error prone, and waste of coffers in conducting examinationmanually.Based on the study, it was set up that the significance of CBT approach for Post UTME examination can not be overemphasized.

The examination consists of different types of multiple choice questions. The answers are estimated and the marks attained are stored in the database while the monitor can get the results incontinently from the system. The main features of an online examination system include instructions for the actors, availability of examination content, valid time allocation, submission ways and affect release( Wondershare, 2012).

Faculty members have set up interactive communication has converted numerous aspects of their traditional classroom format. numerous of the visual cues from scholars, that preceptors have depended upon in the face- to- face classroom, are missing( Farrell, 2000). This includes those postures and facial expressions that give preceptors thenon-verbal feedback they use in order to be more effective( Hains, etal., 2000). The online scholars have complete control over their responses to the educator. During distance literacy, this lack of sensitive observation makes communication throughE-mail and the Web absolutely critical for each pupil’s success( Schrum, 1998). During assessment, still, this lack of visual observation leaves the print that test security is missing. The educator has no assurance, indeed under proctored testing conditions, of the factual identity of the test taker( McCormack & Jones, 1998).

Online Post UTME is an online web operation which will prop and ameliorate the processes involved in carrying out the post UTME examination from launch tofinish by furnishing an online CBT examination platform where candidatescanlog- on( sign- heft), write their examination and get result incontinently before leaving the venue.

 

Statements Of The Problem

Online Post UTME has come a necessity in every examinations terrain especially for the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Bayero University Kano the current styles of conducting Post UTME examination have the following problems

 

i. Delay It takes the speaker long period of time to mark and collect examination scripts of their scholars.

ii. Error Prone crimes ranging from mismarking of pupil option choice, to mismatched recording of scores to the applicable scholars due to large number of scholars the speaker is handling.

iii. Waste of resource The process of producing customize folder, picking up the accoutrements and other process involving in examination are time and resource wasting.

 

Aim And Objects

The aim of this project is to design and apply an Online Post UTME for the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology. The following are still the objects

i. To design a stoner friendly interface for Online Post UTME.

ii. To design an interface for speaker to set and edit questions and also view entire pupil results.

iii. Tocreate a database for storing pupil details and scores.

iv. Tobuild a timekeeper that times the examination.

 

Significance Of The Study

This exploration work will help in a number of ways to academic institutions with respect to their methodology of conducting examination. The proposed Online Post UTME will enable institution to achieve the entourages.

Compass And Limitation Of The Study

 

This exploration work will concentrate substantially on furnishing an interface for scholars to write their examinations using the computer and also enable speakers to set and save the test/ examinations questions into the database. The operation will only give objective questions.
