DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ONLINE JOB PORTAL

INTRODUCTION TO CHAPTER ONE

Technology is continually evolving, and society as we know it is dependent on this reality. That which we take for granted today would have been science fiction only fifty years ago. Computers and the Internet have caught the public imagination in the early years of the twenty-first century, finding their way not only into professional surroundings, but also into household spaces. If we are unable to adapt to these changes in today’s society, we will not be able to stand or exist in this technological world.

Errors have no place in today’s world, thus in order to make a system more effective and efficient, we need technology that minimizes the possibility of error. In this project’s situation, we are expected to create a web-based application on the Job Portal Management System. In this time of recession, everyone, whether experienced or inexperienced, is looking for work. This job site can be quite useful because it allows users of various profiles to upload their CVs and look for jobs based on their qualifications.

Every user can log in with their user id and apply for multiple jobs at the same time. Viewing available jobs or applying for jobs at the agency can be done, but jobseekers must go to the agency and check the available jobs. Job searchers should look through the available jobs and apply for one that interests them. The agency will then provide available employment for the job seeker based on his qualifications and refresh the jobs database. The created Job Portal management system is web-based and requires Employee Registration and Profiles, Job Search, Employer Registration and Profiles, and Subscription Option for both Employee and Employer, among other things. Employers can add their own profiles and post positions, while job seekers can search for employment based on geographical area (country, state, and city), qualification, and company, or experience and expertise.

1. OBJECTIVES AND GOALS

The application’s goals and objectives are to provide a mechanism through which job candidates and recruiters can communicate with one another. An Online Job Portal is a website where job seekers may register and search for positions that are a good fit for them, and where employers can register and post jobs that are available at their organization. The Online Job Portal System is a software package that organizations can utilize to increase business efficiency. The system provides members with a job catalog and information, as well as assistance in deciding which jobs to apply for. The admin and businesses may keep the job catalogue up to current at all times so that job seekers always get the most up-to-date information.

1. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Applicants were needed to seek for possibilities in print and visual media, with most employment being limited to the applicant’s area. The application was submitted through traditional techniques, which were ineffective and inefficient due to document loss during transport and other issues. The old system technique was time-consuming and required a lot of effort and resources; most of the time, employers had to post the positions and filter through all of the applicants’ information before conducting selection procedures based on qualifications.

1. THE STUDY’S LIMITATIONS

I confronted various problems as a result of my research effort –

1. Lack of Study Materials- I had some difficulty locating materials to use and complete my project, therefore I had to go outside of the school library.

2. Time-combining my academics with my research job was a huge constraint, as the semester is jam-packed with school events.
