Background Of The Study

philanthropic aid is material and logistic backing to people who need help. It’s generally short- term help until the long- term help by the government and other institutions replaces it. Among the people in need are the homeless, deportees, and victims of natural disasters, wars, and dearths. philanthropic relief sweats are handed for philanthropic purposes and include natural disasters and man- made disasters. The primary ideal of philanthropic aid is to save lives, palliate suffering, and maintain mortal quality.

philanthropic aid is seen as” a abecedarian expression of the universal value of solidarity between people and a moral imperative”. philanthropic aid can come from either original or transnational communities. In reaching out to transnational communities, the Office for the Collaboration of Humanitarian Affairs( OCHA) of the United Nations( UN) is responsible for collaboration responses to extremities. It gates to the colorful members ofInter-Agency Standing Committee, whose members are responsible for furnishing exigency relief. The four UN realities that have primary places in delivering philanthropic aid are United Nations Development Programme( UNDP), the United Nations Refugee Agency( UNHCR), the United Nations Children’s Fund( UNICEF) and the World Food Programme( WFP).(wikipedia.org)

still, The social media explosion of the last decade has had remarkable goods on numerous aspects of everyday life especially by speeding the way extremity displaced person recieves humanitaria aid and social support. Just as philanthropic heads came “ near to home ” with the arrival of hashtags and trends on social networking spots, social media has formerly again cut down the space between extremity victims and philanthropic associations therefore easing implicit help and immediate philanthropic response to those who are affected by extremity.

Like other social networking point, twitter isn’t left away in furnishing quick information during extremity. According to Sid Johann( 2018), Twitter is the third most popular social networking point in the world and has over 175 million registered druggies. The information network connects druggies to a vast quantum of information and allows individualities to connect with other druggies, associations and the media through 140 character ‘ tweets ’ or by uploading prints and other media( Twitter, 2011). therefore considering the effectiveness of twitter, experimenters are proned to worry on the recent twitter ban in Nigeria as declared by the civil government on 5th June, 2021.

All nations are hovered by the ineluctability of disasters and therefore seek to find better ways to prepare and recover from them, and part of that involves changing strategies that involve public participation in conditioning that can compound and edge the responses of extremity askers. exercising social media to not only inform, but to organize public communities towards disaster adaptability is a fairly new miracle that’s causing numerous formal response associations to question whether their traditional styles of responding to heads can last in a digitizing world. In times of extremity, information becomes the lifeblood of managing philanthropic operations and helps victim to admit quick support responsible association. illustration is the case of one Inibong Umoren who through went missing and through the hashtag(#findhinyumoren) posted by her friend on May 4th, 2021 was set up indeed though dead but perpetrator of similar crime was nabbed. Other cases include the earthquake in Haiti and political uneasiness in Iran and Kenya, stressed how multifaceted social media can be in impacting philanthropic heads. Response to the Haitian earthquake was extremely strong, and information sharing and cooperation between NGOs and states helped reunite family members and allocate food aid to the areas with the topmostneed. However, a ban in social networking point as twitter could help those trapped in extremity from entering immediate social support and quick philanthropic aid. therefore is upon this premise that this study is set to examine the effect of twitter ban on philanthropic services and social support.
