Preface

History had it that, women in the once rehearsed family planning called “ Natural system of family planning ”. The system of family planning emphasized on observing the menstrual period and avoiding sexual intercourse until the menstrual cycle is over.

In the ultramodern technology, it has brought some other styles of family planning which the women and indeed girls are rehearsing them to the loftiest degree. still, it’s insolvable for illiterate women to acclimatize the ultramodern system of family planning and abandon the olden system. thus, the station of illiterate women will noway be the same with that of knowledgeable bones .

also, the content of this exploration work is “ the station of illiterate women towards family planning ”. A case study of Kwande original government area of Benue state.

This chapter deals with preface, background of study, statement of exploration problem, exploration questions, purpose of the study, significance of the study, delimination/ compass of the study and description of terms.

Background Of The Study

Kwande original government area is one among the twenty three( 23) original governments areas in Benue state.

The original government area was created in 1976 after the Tiv division was resolve into three autonomies Gboko, Makurdi and Katsina- Ala under the leadership ofCol. Abdullahi Shelleng. “ Adikpo was chosen as the executive headquarter of the original government area.

The original government is located in the North- Eastern part of Benue state, it’s bounded in the West by Vandeikya original government area, South by Cross River state, Republic of Cameroon in the East, Katsina- Ala and Ushongo original government in the North.

Kwande original government is an agricultural society. The occupants engage in the product of pastoralist food crops similar as yam, cassava, sweet potatoes, sludge,etc. they also grow tree crops like citrus, fresh mangoes( ive) kolanuts, mangoes,etc. for life food. still, the most important profitable crop in the original government is ‘’ Rice ’’. The crop is grown in both tableland and highland areas. On the mountain areas similar as the southern corridor of Shangev- ya, Ikyurav- ya and Turan, the crop is grown on mountain sides after clearing natural timber/ foliage. The crop when gathered is retailed either in reused or undressed form to dealers from the eastern and southern corridor of the country.

The popular requests for the trade of commodity in ghthe original government are Jato- aka request in Turan distric, Ikyogen request in Ikyurav – ya quarter. still, the most feasible request for processing and milling of the commodity in the original government area is Adikpo request.

The prominent features girding the Adikpo city also serves as the headquarters of the original government area set up in the western part of the original government there are also some hills which accommodates tree and wide creatures.

Oral interview and other write- ups has shown that, the original government name was deduced from the word Ukondugh which literally means “ mountain drivellers ” because of its hilly nature. In the South Eastern part of the original government area, there’s a cattle Ranch reweave and creatures of different species kinds are set up there.

numerous gutters are set up in the original government, among them are “ Mlomun ” which flow from the Eastern part to the South Eastern part of the original government, “ Amire ” which takes its sources from the Eastern direction to the North – East.

Climatic conditions endured in the original government are “ Wet and Dry ” seasons. The North East trade wind and South West are responsible for their seasons bringing up “ dust ” from November to March and “ humidity ” from April to October time in time out.

Statement Of Research Problem

numerous women especially those who can’t read and write are too set up of passing gravidity every time( monthly). This is because of their incapability to accomplish the family planning effectively if at all they do.

Due to similar act, numerous women have lost their lives and the lives of babies. In the same vain, some because of ignorance have had their wombs removed surgically because of the complication of revocation. Also, some babies are abandoned in gutters, latrines and some other places as a result of the eight letters word called “ revocation ”.

Exploration Question

In carrying out this design work, the following questions were drawn to guide the study

1. Have you ever rehearsed the condom system of family planning?

2. Do you have any experience about the ultramodern styles of family planning?

3. Do you believe in capsules, as the stylish family planning system?

4. Have you ever heard of vasectomy as a system of family planning?

5. Have you ever rehearsed implant family planning system?

6. Have you ever rehearsed spermicide as a system of family planning?

7. Do you consider injection as a good system of family planning?

8. Do you exerciseintra-uterine device( IUD) as a system of family planning?

9. Do you prefer the ultramodern styles of family planning than the natural system?

10. Do you depends on the natural system of family planning only?

Purpose Of The Study

The primary purpose of this study is to

Determine the station of illiterate women towards family planning in Shangev- Ya quarter in Kwande original government area.

ii. To find out how religious beliefs affect the station of people( women) towards family planning.

iii. To find out how artistic beliefs affect women in the cited area of study.

iv. To identify easily the specific system or styles of family planning these women calculate on and give meaningful suggestions toward the elimination of the station.

Significance of the Study

The exploration work will serve as a source of information for the family council of the chosen original government and to Benue state at large. It’ll also help the ministry of health to embark on mass knowledge crusade to acquainted women in the pastoral areas about family planning processes.

The study will also enable Kwande original government council to educate and give details exposure on colorful styles of family planning.

The experimenter is of the opinion that, the position and degree which the babies are been killed due to revocation will be drastically reduced.

Delimination/ Compass

originally, the study was intended to cover the whole original government area called Kwande, still, because of the large compass in terms of sections and population of people living within the original government and other constraints which include fiscal, time and vice versa, the experimenter limits the study only to Shangev- Ya quarter of the original government.

Description Of Terms

There are certain terms which are used in this exploration work, to make the terms and the entire work more intriguing and meaningful, the experimenter provides the meaning of some terms as used or applied in the study as seen below

Illiterate Not knowing how to read and write,

Abstinence the system of birth control when the woman or hubby stays down from his or her mate in order to avoid coitus.

Spermicides Substances which will kill sperms when they’re released during sexual intercourse.

Vasectomy A medical operation to remove the part of each of the tubes in a man’s body that carry sperms, after which he’s unfit to pregnant a woman.

Implant To put or fix artificial commodity into a part of the body for medical purposes, generally by means of surgical operations.

Condom A thin rubber covering, that a man wears over his pennies during coitus to stop a woman from conditions, a thin purloiner device that a woman wears inside her vagina during coitus to help herself from gestation and sexually transmitted conditions.

Injection An act of putting medicine or other substances into the body of persons or creatures.

Intra-Uterine Device( IUD) A substance that’s fix into the uterus by a medical croaker which act as a hedge the manly sperms and womanish ovum.

Family planning An arrangement of distance and limiting the number of children in a family.

Culture The total ways of life of a group of people in a geographical reality.
