The Effect Of Effective Contract Planning On Contractors

 

Abstract

Effective contract planning in construction systems isn’t only pivotal to attainment of design objects but necessary if design failure is to be avoided, losses minimised and profitability enhanced by the Contractor. While exploration has shown general low operation of formal and effective contract planning in the UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait, UK and Ghana, the practices used by Nigerian Construction Contractors to manage threat aren’t known. Available exploration in Nigeria on this subject only stressed threat factors with utmost impacts on construction point and also the means of mollifying similar pitfalls. This study aimed to estimate contract planning practices used by Julius Berger Construction Company in Akwa Ibom State. The study utilised a qualitative approach with review of being literature,semi-structured interview and recap of data for abstract content analysis.

The experimenter used Julius Berger Nigeria PLC( Uyo Branch), as a case study to find out the goods of contract planning on cost and time, considering that the association is involved in multitudinous contracts with suppliers, merchandisers and the government of Akwa- Ibom state.

Concerning methodology, data used in collecting this exploration were gathered from both primary and secondary sources. The operation and workers of Julius Berger, Uyo were issued questionnaires. Text Books, Magazines and News Papers on contract operation, planning and control were also used in collecting this exploration.

Grounded on the responses gotten form the repliers after the study might have been successfully conducted, the experimenter will outline the findings and recommendations from the study.
