The Extent Of Availability Of Computer System And Their Accessories For Effective Teaching And Learning Of Biology In Senior Secondary School

 

Abstract

The study was conducted to probe the extent of vacuity of computer systems and accessories for effective tutoring and literacy in elderly secondary seminaries in Enugu North Local Government Area. The population of the study comported of two hundred and forty preceptors and scholars in elderly secondary academy in Enugu NorthL.G.A simple check exploration was used for the exploration design and simple arbitrary slice ways were used to elect the subject for the study which is one hundred and forty( 140) were administered,( 120) were returned properly completed while twenty( 20) weren’t returned. Four( 4) exploration questions guided the study. The questionnaire was used in data analysis. A mean of2.50 and over was espoused as a cut of mark for the acceptance of particulars. The result findings showed that the computer systems and accessories for tutoring and learning computer wisdom in seminaries, are largely unapproachable. Grounded on this, some counteraccusations of the study and recommendations were made

Background Of The Study

 

The stylish approach to effect study of computer depends on the extent of the practical aspect of tutoring computer. The aspect of this study has to do with the vacuity of computer system and their accessories. AnekeI.C.( 2005). Computer system is a programmable machine which responds to a specific set of instruction in a well defined manner. It can execute a pre – recorded list of instruction( a program). The place of computer in education, like in any fields of mortal bid, has assumed an unconceivable dimension. moment, computers are used in colorful ways for tutoring and literacy in seminaries at colorful situations. Computes can now guide a learner through a course of instructions at a videotape display unit in such a manner that will grease the understanding of subject matter. This process helps to speed up the scholars learning process. This practice, unlike the case of mortal schoolteacher gives the occasion to re – learn any aspect of the subject matter as numerous times as he she cleans it necessary. This process of literacy is called computer – supported literacy( CAL). Computer can also give instructions to scholars, ask them questions( generally multiple choice question) mark the scholars responses, grade their performance and determine by itself whether to take the scholars to take the scholars to next position of study or repeat the former portion of the lecture just concluded grounded on the scholars performance. This process of literacy is called computer backed instruction( CAI). piecemeal from educational programs, computers also make a lot of impacts I provision of educational accoutrements . Computer transfigure academy libraries into new information service unit. Through virtual library one oleos not need to go from one library to another in hunt of library accoutrements . With just a press of button( keys on computer keyboard) or a click on the mouse the information will be at the disposal of the intended stoner. According to Aneke, accessories are those bias which are useful, helpful to the operation of computer.E.g. keyboard, scanner, printers, mouse, observersetc.Extent through which these accessories are seen in the tab is the major end of these studies. Attainability of computer accessories are of the problem facing Nigerian scholars at Enugu North in particular. In this sense that the hardly make use of the system due to non installation of these accessories in the computer. In other to maintain the of 32nd clerical council meeting of the public council of education in 1987, which is to set- up computer study at the secondary academy position. These accessories must be available to an extent that’s to say that installation of accessories will enhance the smooth handling of programs for the betterment of the scholars learning. This exploration work will give necessary way to the secondary seminaries and way for maintance of the available computer system and accessories.

 

Statement of problem

 

The experimenter wishes to find the extent of vacuity of computer system in secondary academy, in Enugu north by chancing out of the number of computer system in the academy will be enough for the pupil at the course of practical and the vacuity of the computer accessories In other to enhance effective program running in the system for the purpose of this work. The experimenter has put some question to enable them set information at the course of the disquisition. Computer system is the stylish approach to the studding of practical’s in computer education, why are there less computer system in the computer system in the computer lab of the school?Accessories are those bias which are useful, helpful to the operation of computer, why is it that the accessories aren’t available in the computer lab?

The extent of maintance of available computer system and their accessories in seminaries.

The findings of this study will be of benefits to scholars, preceptors, and educational directors. The scholars may stand to profit when the computer system and their accessories are available in the lab for practical in order to enhance effective tutoring and literacy. The preceptors work will be made easier when educational material are acceptable and upgrade following stored information in the computer. This accoutrements is of benefits to educational directors to achieve their objects which is to set- up computer study at the secondary academy position as to well as contriving clear strategies and technologies to be used by the civil and state government in introducing computer education in Nigeria.
