The Influence Of Endsars Protest On Political Interest Of Nigerian Youths

Abstract

The design on the influence of endsars kick on political interest of nigerian youths. The design aimed at probing the influence of endsars kick on political interest of nigerian youths, determining the relationship between endsars kick and political interest of youths and chancing out if the political interest of youths is gender- grounded. A aggregate of 134 repliers were named from the population figure out of which the sample size was determined. Data was collected by means of structured questionnaires administered aimlessly to some named youths in Alagbado original government area, Lagos state, Nigeria. Findings from the study revealed that maturity of the repliers were of the opinion that there’s a significant influence of endsars kick on political interest of nigerian youths, there’s a significant relationship between endsars kick and the political interest of youths is gender- grounded.

Background of the Study

The SpecialAnti-Robbery Squad, popularly known as SARS, was established as a special police unit in 1992 to attack adding incidents of fortified thieveries and hijackings for rescue by felonious rudiments operating across Nigeria( Vanguard, 23 December 2017). Firstly set up to operate singly in order to target felonious groups, the unit’s success depended on its obscurity and mode of operation. SARS operatives conducted covert operations in plain clothes and unmarked vehicles to support police operations responding to community torture calls on fortified thieveries and other serious crimes. Over the times, still, SARS officers have been intertwined in wide mortal rights violations and have garnered a character for arbitrary apprehensions, torture, rape, highway robbery, unlawful detention, and extrajudicial killings.
